... i've been doing more location scouting. that really is one of the best bits about working in film. you get access to places most people don't and get to see the most surprisingly beautiful things in the most surprising of places.
this time i went to
the clapham grand, not that shockingly, in clapham.
i went with the intention of finding some toilets to shoot my next film in but alas theirs are too small.
however, it was a lovely hour or so i passed being shown around whilst Lee, fellow production coordinator, ran around taking photographs. i didn't bring Frank into work today and i'm seriously pissed off about it now. it also incorporates
THIS which is a very fun place to be indeed.
i learned some fun things about the grand:
it was built in 1900 by the same fella who built Koko in Camden.
Those were the only 2 he ever did. The grand is very much a mini Koko, with far less getting lost potential.
An elephant was once brought onto the stage there, back when elephants were big news in south west london.
It started off as a music hall, then became a cinema, then a bingo hall, and now it's a live venue/ night club. it's listed so isn't going anywhere, thankfully.
we saw an old school being pulled down just near tower bridge yesterday and it made me sad.
i was in a cab last night coming home from stratford with a taxi driver who was very enthusiastic about the olympics and took great delight in pointing out that even tho we'd driven for a mile, we were still inside the boundary of where the olympic stadium would be.
he kept saying "and now here, we are STILL inside the olympics."
he says that soon all of london will be made of glass and look like docklands and that will be a good thing. i told him i didn't think it was that great and then he was quiet for a bit. he started speaking again when he had to tell me that we had now left the olympics.
i like brick and stone and old things.
the air conditioning in our office is trying to kill us. i've worn my jumper and scarf all day and i think it's just silly that i'm considering wearing gloves to type.
there's only 3 people in the office right now due to various things happening that i'm thankfully not involved in so it's all a bit odd and weird.
i can't make any progress until
a. my script is approved
b. the man with the location says oh yes, you can use it
and i dont think either of these things will happen until at least friday and then that leaves me less than a week to get everything done.
i don't like it.
i want to hit my target, cos when i actually make an effort in something, i have to do it right and i have to win.
the office has a strange atmosphere all the time, like we're committing great wrongs but not being told about them, and i have a feeling it'll just go on like this until they turn around to us one day and go well, goodbye.
out of the 3 production coordinators i expect 1 to be dropped after the trial period. i know it wont be me but it's still a very stressful environment.
tonight was meant to be poker night but due to illness and other rubbish it has been cancelled which is very exciting cos that means i get to go home and spend time with lady lumps and go to bed at a sensible time.
yeah, that's the kind of thing that excites me.
apart from weekends. then it seems coke pills and booze binges are my thing.
i need to stop doing that.
