i understand that politics is a subject that riles people up. but if you avoid politics in discussion, what will you talk about? music, literature, visual arts? they all lead inevitebly to discussion on some social and political climate.
life is politics. politics is life. to share ideas and be aware of the things people say and do that affect society.
no one gets curious or angry at things they may never be acquainted with if there were no political discourse...there would be no catalyst, no inspiration or motivation to change one's surroundings, or challange a flawed ideal so that only ideas with fortitude survive. we would be stagnant. The best ideas don't always win, but if you refuse to take part, you've lost and so you are even more likely to be governed by your inferiors.
you can be some animal laboran that creates nothing of permanence or substance, or you can lead a meaningful life, which to varying degrees, involves politics and discourse.
