Are we doing things for Faith's birthday? I mean, obviously she's ... upset. Is that what we'd call it? Distressed. Well, you know.

Oh, so that's why she's drinking the liquor store out of business tonight? I thought maybe it was a curse, or something that happened over the weekend, or...um, just her.

I suppose we probably should do something, just...do you have any idea what she might like? Would she even want us to make a big deal out of it? Not everyone likes silly party hats and streamers.

Yeah, guess it's not the most celebratory of times for her.

Faith, deep down? Yeah, she never got that stuff. She doesn't know what she likes.

Never?

Well, I guess...it wouldn't hurt to at least give it a try. She should be okay once we get to the presents and cake part, right? Maybe we should do that part first. It sort of ruins a trajectory of a birthday party, but so would her leaving at the beginning.

That's a great idea, Freddles! We can cram all the best parts of a party into the first like, 10 minutes of it and then she'll have no choice but to stay and enjoy herself!

[AKA everyone WILL have fun because he says so OR ELSE]

And play with her new toys- one of which I definitely have to figure out.

You think a puppy might be a good idea, really? I know it's something that's usually discouraged, but she could probably use a little furry friend. I don't know, Lorne, what do you think?

My vote is vehemently puppy. If she's not into it or something happens, I can find a home for it.

I think it'd make her time here a little better. Dogs, while they may not love me, are little founts of unconditional love and attention. [Lorne's voice totally gets louder here, to make a point to the Grouchmaster] And although someone is being very stubborn, it's a great idea!

Well, okay- so we can get stuff for the puppy too, then. And maybe some back-up things in case that doesn't work out. Dogs are definitely good to have. Since she's got an apartment, maybe something smallish?

And cut Wes some slack. Not everyone is a party-planning master like you, you know.

I'm not the most experience with breeds and the like, but small's probably a better idea. Though not one of those froofy types. Something with a little heft.

Oh, look, it's not-- I've been here awhile and I know I don't live with you guys anymore. Sometimes it's just too much and other times, I wonder if I'm not drifting away completely. I guess I just got a little ahead of myself. I'll apologize, okay? Promise.

Maybe like a shetland sheepdog? Those are like tiny collies. Or a pug- I wonder if she'd be the pug type. Anything yappy is right out, I'd think- she'd want a dog that didn't yip at her.

And it's okay, Lorne. I know where you're coming from, but someone should probably be minding the store. I'd hate to be caught off guard, even for this.

Ooh, that might be perfect. Pugs are the sort of ugly ones, right? Sounds like something Faith wouldn't be able to turn away.

It's never a problem, sweetness. I'm wrastling up help anyway! I wonder what Angel's up to...

They're not ugly! They're just sort of...homely-looking. Like their face got squished. But yeah, maybe that'd be a good idea. Plus, pug puppies are really adorable- just like any puppies, I suppose, but still. A mutt might be good too, because they tend to be a lot healthier, genetics-wise. Do you think we have an animal shelter in the City? I've never really looked into it before.

Okay, now I'm really looking forward to helping with picking out the dog. I'll take a look into where we could get one.
