For some good rock I suggest Janne da Arc (or variations, I have no idea what the real spelling is yet sadly; Janne D'Arc, Jeanee de Arc, etc.), maybe L'Arc~en~Ciel (I have their US release, if you'd like to borrow it/have a copy!)- READY STEADY GO or Driver's High. Of course, Siam Shade as well, with Setsunasa Yori Mo Tooku E. The latter and former are more rock, less pop.
For female artists, Ayumi Hamasaki - Trauma, Maaya Sakamoto - Hemisphere [though really, anything by her I love, she has an amazing voice], Mikuni Shimokawa - Missing, and last but definitely not least (actually right now my favorite song) Utada Hikaru - Passions.
Loveholic is also a good rock band, Korean I think- Sunglass.
If you feel a bit daring for pop/techno-ness, I suggest Miyavi - Jibun Kakumei. Otherwise, go for his Ashita Tenki Ni Nare [it's acoustic and oh-so-yummy].

You'd appreciate these; even if you don't like rap [I really don't.. heh] get it for the lyrics. You *might* have a harder time finding these, so just give me a heads up and I'll send it your way. Well really, that goes for anything I listed!]
Notorious MSG - Dim Sum Girl
Notorious MSG - Straight From Canton
You won't be sorry! ;)
