[Background]
Gokudera was born into a mafia family as the illegitimate son of the boss and his misstress, a Japanese pianist. He was raised to believe that his sister’s mother was his due to the fact that illegitimate children were not tolerated in mafia life and to think that his real mother was simply a piano teacher. His birth mother was permitted to see him only three times a year until he was three years old, encouraging him to play the piano. When he was three however her car was involved in what looked like an accident when she drove off a cliff on the way to see her son; however it was said that she went off the road at an “impossible place” with suicide also being ruled out due to her looking forward to seeing her son and having a present for him. It wasn’t until Gokudera was eight years old that he learned the truth after overhearing family servants gossiping and he ended up running away from his family.
He had a difficult relationship with his family with Bianchi being favoured by their father for being the legitimate child although he had Gokudera play piano for associates. When he did though, his sister Bianchi baked special cakes for him which were really Poison Cooking and they caused him to become ill and he played badly however people enjoyed it and every time he played, their father asked Bianchi to cook for him. Now he cannot even look at his sisters face without suddenly becoming sick although if she wears goggles or glasses or hides a portion of her face he can look at her.
After the ordeal of playing piano thanks to his sister Gokudera decided that he wanted to join the mafia. Mostly he was viewed as only a pianist and as an oriental half-breed meaning that there were few families willing to take him in so he turned to Dr Shamal for advice while he was working for Gokudera’s family. Shamal was someone Gokudera looked up to to the point that he wanted to learn Shamal’s assassination technique - Trident Mosquito - and apparently copied his hairstyle. Instead though, Shamal taught Gokudera how to fight using dynamite with the dynamite ending up as Gokudera’s main weapon after becoming fascinated with explosives. He hides dynamite all over his body becoming a human explosive. He travelled without a family for some time until the Vongola finally let him in and he became a hitman for them under the nickname Smoking Bomb Hayato.
Gokudera travelled to Namimori, Japan upon hearing that the person next in line to become the tenth boss of the Vongola was there. He decided to test him to see if he was worthy of the position and when Tsuna saved him from wayward dynamite he pledged himself to the family and to becoming Tsuna’s right hand man. He began referring to Tsuna as Juudaime [tenth] and admired him to the point of extremes. Gokudera was ranked as the third strongest in Namimori Middle School and was attacked by Chikusa, a member of the Kokuyo Junior High Gang. He took the brunt of an attack meant for Tsuna when he arrived during the fight after Chikusa recognising that he was a member of the Vongola. Gokudera went to Shamal for treatment and joined in with the attack on the enemy base although he was considered a liability thanks to side effects from the treatment Shamal gave him. He battled Chikusa again only to have Ken, another Kokuyo gang member, attack him from behind but he still managed to free a trapped Hibari to fight them off, giving him the cure for the sakurakura virus he got from Shamal.
Gokudera and other members of the family have a run in with the Varia member Squalo when they’re out shopping and end up losing the fight which is over the Vongola rings although the rings he takes are fakes. Reborn tells Gokudera and Yamamoto that they were not strong enough to help Tsuna. Gokudera is given the Vongola ring of storm and is sent to train with Shamal. Gokudera has a hard time with his training due to the fact that Shamal gives him almost no help and he decides to learn how to use Rocket Bombs himself. He almost kills himself but is saved by Sawada Iemitsu - Tsuna’s father. Around this time he learned to value his own life. In the battles for the Vongola rings, Gokudera was pitted against Belphegor to battle for the storm ring. Gokudera is nearly late for the start of the battle after Shamal deciding that he wouldn’t let him fight if he hadn’t mastered the techniquebut he made it in time. The battle was set on the third floor of Namimori Middle and was the only one with a time limit with hurricane turbines set to explode at fifteen minutes and, after the sixteenth minute, at fifteen second intervals. The fight is vicious and Belphegor looks to be winning until Gokudera turns his own ability against him to secure a dead hit but Belphegor manages to revive himself, struggling with Gokudera for the rings as the hurrican turbines start to explode. Gokudera plans to keep fighting for the rings but Tsuna tells him that his life is more important than the rings and he abandons it thus losing the match.
Gokudera is present for the other ring battles and during the final battle between Tsuna and Xanxus for the sky ring he and all the other guardians that are alive are poisoned with something called ‘Death Heater’ with their rings, now on poles, being the key to unlocking the antidote. Guardians must collect their rings and, if that is their choice, save their fellow guardians. Gokudera is saved by Hibari after he knocks the ring from Belphegor’s hand and then fights Levi A Than to save Lambo, giving him the antidote before he goes to rescue Ryohei, giving Lambo to him and meeting up with Yamamoto to rescue Chrome. Belphegor is already in the gym and Yamamoto bargains with him and Mammon to receive the antidote for Chrome for two rings. It is a trick though and Gokudera and Yamamoto end up in an illusion that Ryohei saves them from by destroying the gym meaning that Gokudera, Yamamoto and Chrome are safe. Tsuna eventually defeats Xanxus and is declared the successor and they all have a party to celebrate.
Gokudera was transported to the future not long after Tsuna and Reborn were both sent there where he translated a note from his ten years future self in G-Script. He and Tsuna were attacked by Lal Mirch before they convinced her of who they were and were led to the Vongola Base where they also met the adult Yamamoto. Once inside the base they were reunited with Reborn who had previously gone missing before Tsuna. Yamamoto tells them about the Millefiore family who are trying to wipe out not only the Vongola but every person the family members know. Gokudera is furious with adult Yamamoto for letting Tsuna die in the future and punches him before Reborn tells him that Yamamoto’s father was recently killed. Yamamoto is about to train Tsuna and Gokudera but the Millefiore attack the base and Gokudera and Tsuna meet the adult Haru, I-Pin and Lambo. While fighting the Millefiore brothers, Tsuna runs to save Kyoko and Yamamoto battles Nosaru, instructing Gokudera in how to open the box he found in his adult self’s bag so he can use his box weapon, Flame Arrow. During this battle Haru, I-Pin, Lambo and Yamamoto are all replaced with their younger selves but Gokudera manages to beat Nosaru by using his new box weapon.
Gokudera, together with Yamamoto followed up a lead at the Namimori Shrine where they encountered Gamma of the Millefiore Family. Gokudera refused to fight alongside Yamamoto and took on Gamma alone but he was easily overpowered; even when Yamamoto fought alongside him they were defeated. Gokudera revealed that Tsuna - dead in this time - was alive and was tortured before the future Hibari who saved them both. Gokudera was treated in the hospital facilities in the Vongola base and began to train with his sister Bianchi but their training didn’t go well even after he was provided with the box weapons his future self had left. During this time Gokudera developed Sistema C.A.I Cambio Arma Istantaneo (Instantaneous Armament Change System).
Gokudera was with the rest of the Family members who invaded the Melone base with the group being split up fairly early on. Gokudera accompanied Ryohei and they met Gamma who had recovered who then explained to them the layout of the base. Ryohei tied Gokudera up to prevent him from charging in to attack but he was defeated; this allowed Gokudera to have a rematch with Gamma wherein he seemed to have the advantage thanks to Sistema C.A.I but Gamma managed to break his defences and defeated Gokudera. Ryohei’s sun activation caused Uri to grow up into a leopard and she helped in the fight and the shots exchanged between Gokudera and Gamma knocked them both out with the support group saving Gokudera later.
Gokudera received a new Vongola box from his future self much like the rest of the guardians and he was told by Dino to train Lambo and Ryohei [Ryohei was now his younger self] in how to use their rings and boxes. During the Choice battle with Byakuran Gokudera was chosen as an active participant and he confronted by Kikyo but his box weapons were made useless thanks to Kikyo’s attack. Gokudera tried to purse Kikyo on his motorbike but his attacks were blocked and he was knocked off. Gokudera, Ryohei and Basil were injured by the Six Funeral Wraiths when they attempted to save Uni and later he works with Lal Mirch and Gamma; Gamma had sided with the Vongola at that stage and together they all became the first line of defense. They encountered Zakuro who defeated Lal Mirch and Gamma after opening the hell hole the Funeral Wraiths possess. Gokudera managed to blow Zakuro’s arm off but Bluebell arrived and attacked Gokudera before a conclusion could be reached but the Varia appearing saved Gokudera. Lussuria healed Gokudera and he was abled to join the battle the Vongola were having with the rest of the Funeral Wraiths. When Ghost, the final Funeral Wraith, appeared Gokudera, Ryohei and Basil tried to use a combined attack but that failed when Ghost attacked Uri.
[Personality]
Gokudera is viewed as a rebellious bad boy by the female members of his class but he is indifferent to them. He is very good at his studies despite his attitude and aces all his tests. He views himself as Tsuna's best friend with all others being seen as potential enemies, especially Yamamoto Takeshi. Gokudera idolises Tsuna to a great degree and is almost obsessed with becoming his right hand man feeling there is no better candidate than him. Often Gokudera is brash and violent, reaching for his dynamite often and has a very foul mouth combined with a short temper and very little patience and he can jump to conclusions too quickly. He can be calm and collected but that rarely happens and is usually the result of something being unable to be blown away by his dynamite. He only listens to Tsuna who is the one who can make him behave himself better and his loyalty and devotion to Tsuna and the Vongola show no bounds; he becomes extremely jealous of those close to Tsuna as he believes they are after his future position.
Gokudera prefers to work on his own as he believes anyone else he works with will let him down in some way either by making mistakes or not being good enough. He has shown extreme disregard for his own life such as when the up and coming Vongola family were training for the ring battle against the Varia and he almost blew himself up, saved only by Iemitsu Sawada although he eventually realised that he had to be aware of the value of his life or else there was little point to what he was doing.
Gokudera is highly intelligent, something he must be in order to use his weapons but he also has a very superstitious side meaning he knows Shinto chants and he is very interested in UFOs and gets The Wonders and Mysteries of the World magazine monthly along with having a list of mythical creatures to see before he dies.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Gokudera is extremely good with explosives, especially dynamite which he uses to threaten or attack opponents and could conceal dynamite on his person. He did have a weakness due to having to calculate and pinpoint the distance between himself and his target and time throwing the dynamite with the length of time it would take for the bombs to blow up. His Rocket Bombs are different in that the backside of the bombs fire up and fly towards the target at high speeds, blowing up when they reach the target.
Bombs:
Double the Bombs: sixteen pieces of dynamite are thrown at once.
Triple the Bombs: twenty-four piece of dynamite are thrown at once.
Mini Bombs: propels him in a certain direction.
Smoke Bombs: creates a smoke screen.
Rocket Bombs: speeds up his attacks.
Sistema C.A.I or Cambio Arma Instantaneo (lit. System Change Arms Instantaneous or Instantaneous Arms Change System in Italian )
Sistema C.A.I is a complex puzzle consisting of multiple boxes: four storm, four rain, two lightening, two sun and four cloud. The only way this weapon can be used fully is if someone can utilise all five type of flames with this person being Gokudera as he has multiple flames that flow throught his body in addition to his storm energy. This weapon is designed to use the weaker flames to activate the multiple rings that complement the storm flames. His main weapon is Flame Arrow which is a cannon that can equip bullets of different flame attributes and create a range of attacks.
The main structure of Sistema C.A.I so far is a set of four circular bone shields that protect the user from attacks or that can immobilise the box weapons of the enemy. The storm flames that make up the shields are lightly coated in rain flames which will neutralise the initial part of the attack. The sixteen boxes have four skull rings for each of the other dying will flames, Uri and Flame Arrow with the main method for an attack involves a burst of dying will flame or missile projectiles comprised of two kinds of flames. The strength of the combination is the instant charge from one weapon to another allowing it a high degree of unpredictability. The most powerful combination is that of storm and lightning which concentrates into a burst called Flame Thunder. When Gamma fought Gokudera he believed it to be an Innocenti original because of how flashy it was.
Rain: When the storm rockets are coated with rain's trainquility the defences of the enemy are weakened by weakening the actual flames of the enemy.
Sun: The activation of the sun and high power output increase the speed of the storm rockets. This creates an unpredictable acceleration.
Cloud: The propagation of cloud allows the canon to fire one shot that spreads like a tree-diagram. This makes the attack hard to follow.
Thunder: Thunder has solidification properties meaning that a solid beam is fired.
Flame Arrow: The Flame Arrow is a cannon strapped to Gokudera's arm with a skull face and a barrel that fires from the mouth of the skull. There is another skull on the other end to where the ammunition is inserted with the ammo being real bullets or dynamite. The main attack is a burst of pure storm flame but it can use the special missiles when mixed with other flames. The cannon can issue instructions in Italian by spelling words in dying will flames and if no bullets or ammo are loaded then it releases a burst of air that extinguish dying will flames.
Contact Lenses: Sistema C.A.I. came with contact lenses that allow Gokudera to aim at his enemy with great accuracy whilst taking into account gravity and magnetic fields. They have the same basis of technology as the contact lenses Tsuna used to complete his X-Burner.
Vongola Storm Box: Gokudera's second Box Weapon, which takes the form of a baby leopard named Uri. In the beginning, it was part of the Sistema C.A.I., and had the ability to absorb Sun Flames to grow. After Gokudera gets the Vongola Storm Box, Uri receives an upgrade and can perform Cambio Forma. Uri is usually a leopard cub with very little physical power and she never listens to Gokudera who she often attacks. When she is treated with the activation properties of the sun flames she grows into a huge leopard with flames on her shoulders and she becomes far stronger. Uri can eat real food in addition to taking in sun flames.
Cambio Forma: G-Archery: Uri combines with the Flame Arrow when this is activated which creates a giant ornate bow made of bones with storm flames covering the drawstring with the Roman Numeral I in the middle. G-Archery can fire several storm arrows at once; Uri is sentient in this form to allow Gokudera to aim easier.
Taienrankuga (Flame storm sky fangs) is a combined attack with Ryohei and Basil. Kangaryu (Ryohei's box weapon) shoots Uri with a sun bullet to increase her size and strength instantly while Alfin (Basil's box weapon) combines its rain flame with Uri' storm flame. The result of this is a deadly flame combination.
In Somarium Gokudera won’t be able to do what use his Vongola Storm Box meaning he won’t have Cambio Forma: G-Archery and Uri will not be able to grow beyond being a small kitten. His Sistema C.A.I will also not be as powerful as it usually is regarding strength, speed, power and accuracy.
[Affection] Unless you want to be blown up...you should probably try not to be affectionate with him.
[Fighting] As long as I'm contacted oocly [either by AIM or through this journal somehow] I'm totally down with fighting. All his abilities are listed above and he's pretty powerful when he's using Sistema C.A.I and even with just dynamite he's good. You can injure him but like actual fighting just let me know. As for killing, I'd need to seriously think about it but if it works for the situation and so long as it's extremely rare then yeah, I'll probably be okay with it. If anyone seems to be threatening his family watch out because he'll definitely go off.
[Other Permissions] Don't break the fourth wall please, I just really don't enjoy that. If your character knows about the mafia in general [ie how it works in say, The Godfather, not the KHR style mafia] then you can try to get him to chat about it/explain it. Mind reading is fine but he'll get pissed off about it, just warning you in advance.
[Other Facts]
Gokudera has his own language known as the G-Writings that he thought up in class when he was bored.
He is an extremely talented pianist.
He has a thing about skulls. His box weapons and weaponry often incorporate skulls somehow.
Gokudera is ridiculously devoted to Tsuna [who he calls Juudaime meaning Tenth] and is easily offended by anyone who insults Tsuna or seems to do so. His mission is to be Tsuna’s right hand man and he’s constantly trying to prove himself to be the best for this position along with becoming extremely depressed if he feels he’s failing at it. If he thinks someone is trying to come between him and Tsuna or him and his future position he can be extremely jealous.
