I HATE THIS!
Got this article from the email today. It totally pissed me off. I can't express well what I think cos I'm really shocked with how people nowadays can still be so narrow-minded and stupid.
MY GOD! You need not punish a child for eating with a spoon and fork. If you want people to respect your table manners, then you better respect other culture's table manners too. It doesn't matter if we are in your country or if you are here.
I say, this is a race-based classification. I do not see the reason behind punishing a child, making him sit alone and isolated from the other school kids, just because he's using 2 pieces of utensil. It is NOT barbaric (I would totally understand if the child used his bare hands but nevertheless he shouldn't be punished for that if that is the way he and his family eat). So what if Filipinos like to eat their rice with viand together. UGH!
Eating with a spoon and fork is part of the Filipino culture so I think it is just reasonable and proper for others to respect that.
Pfffft. We don't even throw stones at that Chowking TV ad maker (read: eating halo-halo with chopsticks, how about that!?).
