[Video / Action for those in Violet's Gym]

Aug 29, 2010 04:07

[The video feed flickers on from the trainer's line in Falkner's gym and the battlefield is a wreck, the crowd in the stands is roaring like an unruly mob at the site of a riot. In the background, the announcer's voice echos across the arena.]

And what an AMAZING battle this has been so far ladies and gentlemen! In the first few minutes of our sizzling hot match here in the Violet City Gym, the challenger's Gyarados took a frigid bite out of Falkner's Honchkrow and put it down for the count! But our town hero's no push over and with a little jousting from his Noctowl, actually managed to put the mighty sea monster to sleep with a fantastically well-aimed Hypnosis attack! And then out of nowhere, the challenger's Quilava showed it was more agile than those tiny limbs would suggest and in the end, managed to take down its opponent with a brilliant Fire Wheel.

[Annoyed with seeing his opponent's smug grin, Falkner's eyes narrow as he whips another Pokéball into the arena, releasing the apparent ace of his flock; a mighty Pidgeot! The bird gives a loud shriek to announce its presence as it soared high over the arena before the camera pans down to show a somewhat battered Quilava skittering to and fro, watching the movements of its foe intently.]

I hope you've enjoyed your luck! Pidgeot! Use Fly and introduce that flaming weasel to the ground!

He's comin' in from the side! Get outta the way, Gurren!

[The Quilava's not nearly quick enough as the Pidgeot snatches it up into the air. In an instant, the two Pokémon are near the ceiling of the gym before the bird screams down at break-neck velocities, slamming Gurren into the floor and leaving a cloud of dust as it soars away from its victim.]

GURREN!

[The dust settles and Gurren clearly isn't doing well. He looks to his trainer; battered and bruised both in body and spirit. Defiant as his trainer, he manages to perch upright on his back legs, turning to glare at the bird circling overhead.]

Hmmm... it seems your Pokémon is as stupid as you are -he doesn't know when he's beaten!

SHUT UP YOU BASTARD!

OI, GURREN! You heard this guy! But yer like me! We're the kinda guys that won't just sit there and take it when some smug jerk goes lordin' their position over us! If they wanna loom over us on high and block our path WE KNOCK 'EM DOWN!

[The words didn't fall on deaf ears. Despite how weary he'd become, Gurren grins defiantly in mimicry of his trainer, his little fist punching upward into the air.]

Ya see that, Falkner! We ain't gonna take yer shit anymore!

Enough with this! Pidgeot! Use Sky Attack and teach these vulgar miscreants what happens to those that don't respect those above them!

[Obediently and with the same haughty body language as its trainer, the Pidgeot circles up high before diving after its mark. But as it closed to the point of nearly striking, a massive geyser of flames erupted from around Gurren, forcing the bird back as it looked on in confusion and awaited a new order. The pyre that surrounded the Quilava reached the ceiling of the gym, blackening all that it touches, scattering burning embers and bringing the air around it to shimmer. When the blaze subsided, a significantly larger creature reared its head as it stood on its back legs.

Bearing a passing resemblance to the Quilava, the new creature gave an angry glare at its enemy.]

UNBELIEVABLE! In mid-battle, the Quilava evolved into a Typhlosion!

[The crowd started as any variety of shouts and hollers filled the arena, the enthusiastic cheering of Kamina somehow being audible above all of them.]

WAY TO GO GURREN! Show this guy what the Dai Gurren Dan does to a wall blocking our path!

I-impossible! Pidgeot -!

[Falkner was cut-off in mid-sentence. Before he'd even had the chance to issue an order, the newly evolved Typhlosion roared a challenge, a flowing curtain of flame peeling off its back -an image not too different from its trainer's omnipresent cape. And in a dramatic motion, it reeled back before thrusting its hands forward and launching a massive fireball into the air. Unable to dodge the fearsome attack, the Pidgeot fell to the ground, quite thoroughly roasted.]

Taken down with a Flamethrower attack! The challenger's Pokémon has power to match both of their spirits! And that's the end of this challenge! The winner and recipient of both the Zephyr Badge and the TM Roost goes to Kamina!
