[Much to the upset of the Cyndaquil, it seems his trainer's gone into his full-blown story-telling mode.]
Then I'll tell ya! Imagine a world where everyone lives in caves underground -no one knows why, but most of the village elders refuse to let people even try to reach the surface. In this world, a boy and his father once ventured up and saw a world without a ceiling -a land so open, that the boy shrank away, returning to the village while his father ventured into that world.
Years later, the boy grew up into a man who believes in himself! A man who's spirit burns like no other! Still oppressed by the rules of the village elder, he tries time and time again to reach the surface, trying to take his brother-in-spirit, Simon with him. Yet each time, that bastard stops 'em.
One day, the cave quakes and rumbles! The ceiling collapses and a monster of metal falls through! The village elder is busy pissin' his pants while the great Kamina takes up his sword and stands toe-to-face with the monster, unflinching and unafraid.
[The mun, looking to avoid a complete summary of Gurren Lagann episode 1, will cut this short and would be happy to fill in any details if needed.]
And that's how with the Gurren Dan's mighty drill, Simon wasted the beastman machine! And for the first time in his life and the second time in Kamina's, they saw a vast world with no walls or ceilings!
[Kamina is clearly enthused. Telling a good story always seems to get him fired up. And speaking of getting fired up, his brain's already hatching out ideas. Fear Sora, fear a lot.]
