What blight is this? I have not seen such a remarkable taint since the parasite laid seige to my troops. On that note, where I am from, there are things in the universe beyond even my race's understanding. When we encounter them, we do not dare interfere with their workings... we let those who are suited for the task, the holy San'Shyuum, to do ( Read more... )

Okay, Ironhide told me you needed a hand. What's up?

He has the idea of moving this statue. Throwing it overboard. I am capable of moving it, but without help it would take me a long time to get it up to the top decks... not to mention the danger involved.

I'm not entirely sure how that will help things, but I trust Ironhide's judgement. Alright, I'm on my way. Deck 18 right? Depending if I meet up with anything nasty I should be there in a few minutes.

Alright, affirmative. I'll be waiting.

[Ripa clicks his comm off and busies himself undoing the rest of the bolts.]

[Bolts through the corridors in his alt. mode, up the stairs, and right into deck 15, before coming to a flashy sliding stop a few feet away from Ripa.]

This the one, right?

[Ripa grunts at the flashy displaying, gesturing to it.]

Yes, this is it. Are you ready?

That's okay. I'm perpetually slow with tags. jazzingitup April 17 2010, 03:52:35 UTC
Yup~ [Walks around it and shakes his head.]

I'll take the head and you the feet.

Affirmative.

[Ripa crouches and places his large, double-thumbed hands over the statue-- his hands are built for a brutally secure grip.]

Ready? Now, we heft.

[... does it sound like the statue is breathing once you get closer?

...it kinda does, doesn't it?]

Ready. [Takes the head and lifts it down so weight is more or less even between them.]

Let's march and hope we don't meet any creepy crawlies on the way.

... [pauses for a second though when he hears the breathing.]

Hey...you hear that?

[Ripa growls. At first he wants to berate the mech for senseless questions, then... he hears it too. The Sangheili tilts his head, orange eyes flicking down to gaze at the statue.]

Apparently this statue is not what it seems.

I've only been on this ship for a couple cycles and I'm liking this place less and less... [Looks down at the statue and shakes his head.]

How 'bout we just dump it overboard before the fragging thing wakes up or anything like that.

[There's a soft, quiet voice. Male, quite distinctly male, and adult. Not too old, but not a youth any longer, and a little too rich to be natural. There's no ugliness in this voice, just everything pleasing and that, weirdly enough, is a little unsettling.

It doesn't say any words, but it's like something murmurs just behind them. Hard to make out the phrase, the language, anything... but it could be summarized as saying, 'Don't you have anything better to do?']

[So far so good. The breathing is a little eerie, but the statue doesn't seem overtly hostile. Not that Ripa would be concerned if it was. Oh, the drawbacks to being an arrogant son of a bitch.]

Fine. Quicken your step, then.

[Having a most excellent set of audials, Jazz could just about make out a soft voice saying something behind them. Too bad Jazz does not understand that language. He doesn't bother to say anything more, just marched along a bit faster, his entire bodyd on guard for an attack, or anything else.]

[No attack.

Just a deep hole beneath the statue. The deck plating is metal, but beneath it is... earth? Dirt. A dirt hole that vanishes down into darkness.

What will you do?]
