People like this guy make me sick. Does war suck? Yes. Is it usually for the wrong reasons? Yes. Do we stick our noses into places we shouldn't? Yes. It's the American way. No offense to the Tillman family, but why is Pat Tillman's death so much more important than the death of any other small town kid in this war? My brother is on his third tour in Iraq. Does it make me sad and angry that he has to keep going back? Yes, but he's in the military. That's what the military does. They fight regardless of whether or not they should because that's their job. Instead of making their sacrifice a joke and whining about how they died for the wrong reasons, how about celebrating their life as a hero? Whether they believed in the cause or not, they gave the ultimate sacrifice and put others lives ahead of theirs. It's like firefighters...Do you think they ever look at house that's burning down and say, "Hmmm. These people aren't worth saving."? Heck no. They walk into the fire because that's what they do and what they believe in. Soldiers are no different. These people that say their loved ones died for nothing are only disgracing them. Saying they died for nothing more or less means they mean nothing. A soldier doesn't enlist because he wants to go to war. He enlists because he believes in America. He believes in freedom and equality. And he's willing to put others lives before his or hers. I'm so sick of this whiny, pity me crap. The line about "why should a soldier on his 3rd tour care about a kindergarder's scribbles?". Hey schmuck, these kids are being taught to appreciate what these men and women are doing for us. And voting "Democrat" isn't going to solve everything. Republican, Democrat, Independent...when are people going to learn that one man or party doesn't make a difference. Vote for a democratic president, but if the senate and/or congress is mostly republican, or vice versa, it's stalemate and nothing will change.
And by the way, stop using your brother as your "campaign stepstool". Overpriveledged idiot. Be proud of him. Don't mock him with your "political" agenda. And if you joined the military for nothing more than to make a political statement, move to the Middle East. I'm sure you can find a nice run down apartment cheap.
Obviously you're not over there being shot at and washing the blood and brains of your friends off your clothing. You've also likely never served in the military. You're here and safe from the horrors these soldiers must endure.
You missed his message. The message is that while the coloring is appreciated it isn't stopping the soldiers from dying. It isn't creating peace. What he is telling us all is to stand up and say something. Do something. Not asking for pity. If you believe in the cause, sign the paperwork and join the military.
I do agree that voting one way or the other isn't going to make a difference, but so far the republican track record sucks. Any change from republican at this point is an attempt to change for the better. Please note, I am a republican and I think this government is more corrupt than ever before. If I knew where to start I'd work toward removing those in power and putting in leadership that cares about the people and not the power. So I'll start with voting democrat if that is what it takes to remove the corruption and evil that America appears to be to the rest of the world.
