so first things first: news at work. i got offered a promotion a few months back and now the wheels are turning for me to get it. the position is called Senior Tech. its an increase in pay (not much), and more of an administrative job than actually being a pharmacy tech. the Senior Techs do things like scheduling, ordering products, and anything else that involves being the leader right below the pharmacist manager of the satellite. and also, be a tech in the pharmacy when needed.
now for the details:
INOVA Fairfax Hospital has 5 pharmacies: Core, Central, Heart Center, OR, and Women and Children-->where i work. Each of these pharmacies has a certain number of techs and pharmacists, but each of them has one Senior Tech. The Senior Tech in Central, named Tiffany, is leaving in August for school. upon giving her, way in advance, notice of leaving the acting Director asked Tiffany if she could think of competant replacement; her first thought was me.
Tiffany first asked me a few months ago at a going away party for one of our managers, and at first i was scared and replied "Hellllllll no! i aint cut out for Senior Tech." then i talked to a couple of people and the idea grew on me. then i started to get interested so now im going through with it. Im supposed to start training in the Central Pharmacy at some point (dont know when) for a month or 3, then i start Senior Tech training which should take about a month.
after all of this im still not sure if im going to get the job. all though i'll be going through the training and basically considered the only person for the job, the whole process of getting the promotion is like applying for a job. I have to give them an updated resume, interview(s), and then wait. So i'll be winging it from here and see what happens and do my best, and hope that i get it.
In the event that i dont, i'll stay with my current pharmacy (Women and Children) plus be cross trained in another pharmacy so i can do more help that way.
outside of work something is happening (for once). im going to be moving out. where to? thats...still a question right now. but its either downtown Fairfax area or San Diego, CA. bit of a difference eh? the constant is my bud Pat. he wanted to move into Fairfax and be closer to his work, plus be away from home. but now California is starting to look not only plausible, but oh so good. before i do all of this though? i have to do a couple of things: fix up this house, sell it, and use that money along with any extra to get her settled in somewhere (preferably Hawaii) then i can live my life.
so now i have a new years resolution or goal rather: get out. and to do so i need to: fix up the house, sell it, and get my mom settled in. then i do it.
