Just went to check out the Massachusetts voting propositions that are on the ballot for Tuesday to see all the things that I'll be casting a vote for. As far as it being a financial issue with their being subsidized... this proposal has nothing to do with that. It's about making ALL dog racing illegal... not just closing down the couple dogtracks that are a drain on the state's economy. Had that been the proposal... "stop funding these tracks cause they aren't making their money back"... then yeah, that'd be something I'd have to think about. But from what's written in this proposal... it sounds much more like it's the anti-gambling people who have a bigger hand in this (since it specifically states it is to put a ban on any dog racing where gambling on the speed of the dogs occurs).
And as I am a huge supporter of gambling and casinos in the commonwealth... that aspect just tees me off even more. So my decision-making process and distain for the proposal remains.
