Life goings-on

We were in a parade today!  the Sisters of Mayhem, my roller derby team out of Hackettstown, marched and skated in the Newton St. Patty's Day Parade at 11:30.  It rocked so hard!  We gave out dum-dum lollipops with recruitment mini-flyers attached, and people loved us and asked where we were out of.    I was actually kind of worried prior to the parade that since we didn't have our uniforms yet, we might look a bit rag-tag, but we had our shirts on and walked behind a big banner, and we looked fantastic!  Only four of us skated, since the road surface wasn't exactly that smooth, but that was enough to get people excited :)  Roller derby is totally taking over my life, and I have no qualms about it.  Scott is loving it too, he's reffing for the team, and practices with us twice every week at our late, late practices.  He actually is thinking about working on his skating enough to join a men's team!  He says it looks like women's football on skates, without a ball, and a ton of fun!  I love my hubby :)  Oh, and my name Deevious was apparently too close to someone elses, and wasn't accepted.  I have now submitted Deevious von Doom as my skate name, and heads will roll if I don't get it!

In other news, we are headed out to LA this Friday morning, ungodly early.  Scott's brother went and eloped not long ago, and the reception is being held Saturday night.  We were informed the dress style is "Hollywood Party", as that is where it is being held....so the chicks wear sexy little dresses and the guys are lazy.  That is what the new bride said when we asked her what "Hollywood Pary" meant, in any case.  She is the resident expert in that, as she has a blog called "Hollywood in Heels", very Sex in the City--go google it, it's a good read.  She wants to get it published, and now that she's marrying into ...the fame that Scott's bro has access to....  it might very well become a reality.  She's also a model, and the party will be full of those, and famous people, possibly.  I'm going to look like something the cat dragged in, next to all that, ha!  Either way, I'm super-excited!!!

Tomorrow, for the second time this month, we're heading up to the site.  Last time we really didn't do anything other than drop off some of the multitude of stuff in our basement waiting to be brought up there.  It was too cold to do anything other than drop it and run.  This time we'll be meeting a couple of the other owners to determine where cabins will be located.  Hopefully ground will be thawed enough that we'll have the four cabins that were ordered there by the first event, the first weekend in april.  We have much to do, and little time to do it in--hopefully we'll have enough manpower.  Volunteers, anyone?  Scott's started on making the bunk beds, he has one prototype so far, and we just bought a bunch of lumber at Lowes for another twenty.  Hopefully he'll have them done for the first event, I'm sure it'll make many people happy!
