Take Me OUT

Apr 20, 2005 10:15

My softball boys, Jess and I are going to see a play tonight at the Marietta Square called “Take Me Out” which is the story about a gay professional baseball player who was pressured to quit his team after the media discovered and exploited the fact that he was homosexual.

Take Me Out

By Richard Greenberg
Extended to May 1, 2005!
Winner of Broadway’s top dramatic prize, the Tony, this gripping look at the world of baseball pulls no punches. Powerful, funny, and moving as it looks behind the scenes from the front office to the locker room showers.(Advisory: Strong language and nudity.)

….”grand slam production…”- Creative Loafing

….”likely to be one of the season’s most talked about shows…as irresistible as a tabloid tell-all…” - The Atlanta Journal Constitution

SouthernVoice review

According to the SoVo review, “The character of Mungitt the bigot is clearly patterned after former Atlanta Brave John Rocker, ranting and raving about the minorities he has to face in his new city.”

There is also apparently a staged locker room shower seen with full frontal male nudity so this should be interesting.

I’ll let you know how it went tomorrow.
