Oscar's 2005 in 3 points

                                                Rachel’s guide to the Oscar’s

1). The Chorus (Les Choristes) got robbed No love from the Best Foreign Film category, no love from the Best Original Song category. Plus the performance of ‘The Chorus’ song got raped by Beyoncé (of ALL people in the world). For me to imagine Beyoncé singing French made me truly wonder if life could get any better. I, however was promptly disappointed. I brought a blank VHS tape to record the performance and everything. Beyoncé was dressed like a lime green 50s French go-go dancer explosion and her pronunciation was so bad it almost made me cry.

2). Hillary Swank looked amazing and she got what she deserved. Everyone at Hannah’s Oscar party went absolutely nuts when the Best Actress award was announced. Jess and I have decided that going out to see Million Dollar Baby is now most definitely on our to-do list of movies to see.

3). Robin Williams was the presenter for the Best Animated Feature award and apparently he had prepared and entire little skit referencing and making fun of the recent accusations with Sponge Bob and Buster Bunny being labeled as cartoons with a “pro-gay agenda”. Williams was censored before the evening began and he wasn’t allowed to tell some of the jokes he had prepared for this presentation including one asking whether Casper the Friendly Ghost wore that white sheet because he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. (CNN article) He walked out on stage wearing a white piece of tape over his lips in protest of the censorship. The skit he did instead was doing impressions of Hollywood as if they had been cartoons (which was hilarious even though at the time I really had no idea what was actually going on).

That kind of sums it up in three points.

It's all about the back.   ;)
