My all time favorite breakup/depression songs.

Im going through a hard time, and while I shouldnt listen to To/Die/For because of the depressive lyrical content, I do. And here's a list of my all time favorite songs to listen to when Im down.
  1. Lover You Should've Come Over - Jeff Buckley, To me this is probably the greatest song ever written. When I hear the intro with the accordian I totally feel transported to New England and Im sitting in a room missing you, hearing the waves crash against the docks, and seagulls in the background. I can feel the pain in his voice unlike any other singer has ever sounded on any song. This song to me is pretty much the sound of a soul weeping.
  2. My Theif - Elvis Costello, Another soul shaking song that I never get tired of, I would say that I was going to choose "Sweetest Punch" but to me this has always been a more personal song with lyrics that say "if you cant be my lover, be my theif" perfectly describing the feelings after a loss of a love.
  3. I (Who Have Nothing) - Tom Jones, this song has always struck home with me, because Ive always felt it was true, the song pretty much says no matter what I still love you and that other guy will never love you the way I do. He can buy you all this stuff and take you out to fancy resteraunts but his money pales in comparrision to my love.
  4. Close To You - The Carpenters, The ultimate love song? I think so. If you havent really listened to this song before you should die. This is an important song to me and always will be. Im going to sing it at open mic night.
  5. My Funny Valentine - Frank Sinatra, This song is amazing, period. With one of the greatest deliverey of lyrics ever the line "your looks are laughable, unphotographable, yet your my favorite work of art." this song is smooth sweet and shows a perfect sense of what love is.
  6. You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me - Sammy Fain, one of the best lines ever "if the sandman brought me dreams of you, I'd want to sleep my whole life through" man that's so great, and classic.
  7. Dying Embers - To/Die/For, Goth metal perfection, with lyrics as catchy as their guitar hooks these guys are the reason that HIM exists. This song probably has their best lyrical content also, with lines like: "After all I still believe, in life and blood relation, and I know Im drained of both. Now it's all the same to me, Im safe in isolation, surrounded by your love." and this song will make you want to sing.
  8. It's Impossible - Elvis, A soul shaking song, and it's elvis my favorite line is "I would sell my very soul, and not regret it. Or to live without your love, It's just impossible"
  9. Youve Lost that Loving feeling - Righteous Brothers, "Baby baby, I get down on my knees for you, if you would only love me, like you used to do, yeah"
  10. Have a told you lately - Rod Stewart, everyword is so true, Im sorry.
