For the past two years, I've taken the days between Christmas and New Year's off from work (because I'm nifty like that, in terms of budgeting my vacation days.) And for the past two years, I've spent Christmas with my family and then skip out of town on the 27th/28th and don't return until January 1st. In fact, I've spent the last two New Year's Eves in the Midwest, in Kansas with Mary Beth (MB) and my pals out there (Nik, CJ and Bren)... it's a quiet NYE. I go to a KU game, have some BBQ and the obligatory steak when I'm there because no one does a better steak than the Midwest. And seriously, the barbecue sauce... the BEST!
Anyway, this year, I switched around my plans and spent a few days in KC last month in place of my annual pilgrimage to Orlando for Super Soap Weekend (eff you Bush for throwing the economy into the crapper that neither MB nor I could afford it, esp. since it was the LAST one.) And being since I made my yearly pilgrimage to KC last month, it meant no trip out there for New Year's, which I'm fine with.
I made plans of spending this year's break ice skating, sleeping in and lounging, which I still plan to do. But the only damper is the fact that I have t get dental work done. :(
Ugh...
So next year, I shall revert back to my little tradition of spending the last few days of the year in the Midwest with MB and friends, because it seems to be the better way of ending the year than having to visit the dentist this Monday and Tuesday.
Oh and did I mention, I may have to pay for most of the dental work out of pocket. BAH!!!
Seriously, a trip to the Midwest would have cost me waaaaaay less.
Merry Christmas all and Happy Holidays!
