Back to Rangdum

It was noon by the time we started from Padum, the sun was warm but that did not last for long as the sun disappeared between the clouds and the winds started getting cold; to add to that we were hungry. We hurried and finally got to our lunch spot just before PensiLa at 3:30pm; we had stopped here on the way to Padum earlier for lunch and had asked what they do in the winter, "eat, drink, sleep, and sometimes clear the snow off the roof" had been their reply. The climb up PensiLa was cold but the view of the Drang-Drung glacier was again good.
We stopped by at the Rangdum gompa, built on a small outgrowth in the valley. We walked around every nook and corner; the monk seemed to be waiting for that before he asked us if we wanted to see the prayer hall. The views from the gompa were great as the sun started to set and lit up the sky, the clouds and the mountains beautifully. As we set off towards the village of Rangdum, the clouds cleared for a bit giving us a peek of the Nun-Kun peaks. At the village itself we found our way to the J&K guest house, it is frugal but serves its purpose of providing a warm night.
