So I did not get get the VT job I mentioned. Apparently the other candidate had more of a "reading background" or something. I was feeling super bummed about this, as rejection after rejection really piles on until it's almost too much to handle ( Read more... )

Thanks. I feel a bit better about the job thing today, but continuous rejection is tiring at best. :/

I drink (hot) tea all the time. Like 8-10 cups a day: black, green, herbal, redbush, etc.

That's impressive! So many antioxidants! XD

I actually liked most subjects in school as a kid, but I fondly remember reading and science most (and history, but this wasn't really in your list). I was never a fan of PE, I always felt so clumsy.

I liked most subjects as a kid, too, which is why I feel alright about teaching primary school now, where you have to spend time on a good variety of them. History is not in the Social Studies curriculum for most Early Childhood grades in NYC. I think it's because we're such a diverse community that it's been decided that the foundation of it all should be begin with getting to know the people in the community and finding out about the languages, religions, customs, etc. of other kids in the class. I understand this, but it would be nice to find time to include both.

As for gym, our gym is quite simple. Stretching, "duck duck goose", freeze dance, scooters, balance beams, dribbling basketballs...and yet there is one kid in my class who seems to be unable to get through a single gym without falling on the floor at least three times...XD
