That Monday seemed to be passing over Bam in a gray haze. He couldn’t seem to focus on anything. The words of the teachers, of his friends, washed over him and faded into nothing.
All he could see was her. The girl with those eyes that burned right into his soul. She seemed to be etched behind his eyelids. It was insane. He shouldn’t be so attached to someone he had met just once.
Bam was quieter than normal in his classes. His teachers eyed him suspiciously, ready to attribute this to him cooking up trouble and not dreaming away about a pretty girl with green eyes.
And so when Bam didn’t hear the math teacher ask him come to the board and complete the formulas for the class, he instantly assumed that Bam was deliberately ignoring him. Of course, you can’t blame the poor old man for sending the troublemaker directly to the office.
In the course of that fall, Bam had played so many tricks and gotten into so many shenanigans in his class, just the sight of the boy frayed his nerves. He’d put tacks on his chair, sticks of chalk in his erasers, organized book drops, and so many other things that the man couldn’t even mention.
So when Bam didn’t hear the question, he instantly sent him to the office. Bam sighed to himself as he folded his hands on his belly and stared at the ceiling. How many times had he been made to sit on this wooden bench? He rubbed the arm of it idly, feeling where he had carved his name into it.
That had earned him another weeks’ detention on top of the one he’d gotten for acting out in class in the first place. Bam just didn’t know when to stop, sometimes. He sighed again and bit his lip.
He knew he was done for. This had been his last chance to straighten up and fly right, the headmaster had said. And he hadn’t even done anything to screw it up!
Yes, you have, a nasty voice said inside his head. You did all those other things. You can’t be a jackass and expect every one to turn right around and trust you.
Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance? He tried to counter.
How many second chances do you get before they’re not second anymore?
Touché. He didn’t really have much of a response for that one. Bam groaned miserably and slumped down low. He closed his eyes and tried to recapture the feeling of standing next to that green eyed girl.
But it was fading. He pursed his lips. There had to be some way to find her. Someone at the club must know her. Lotus knew people there and---.
“Margera,” the headmaster’s wrinkled face poked itself out of his office. “Come in. Now.”
Bam gulped.

Bam sat in the straight backed hardwood chair in front of the dark desk. Headmaster sat behind it, his hands folded on top. He attempted to stare down Bam. As in the past, the younger boy met his gaze unflinchingly.
That was part of the problem, the older man thought, exasperated. If he would just give a little, I would try and let him stay! To be honest, he rather liked the plucky youth in front of him.
He could never let Bam know that, though. He couldn’t seem to encourage him. And, really, sometimes his tomfoolery really did get out of hand.
“I ought to expel you.”
“I know,” there was remorse in the boy’s voice. That was a step forward.
“However,” he continued. “Our school did just hire a student guidance counselor, and he has spent the morning reviewing your file.”
Bam twitched. Great. Now the shrink was going to get in on it. He’d heard about this new guy. So far he’d managed to stay out of enough trouble so that he didn’t have to see the man.
But if it let him stay in school…
Before anything else could be said, the door opened. A young man with long dark hair came bursting into the room. He had laughing brown eyes. He dressed in dark pressed slacks and a dark button down shirt.
“So! This is Bam Margera?” he beamed when he saw the boy. That was the first time a teacher had done that the first time they’d seen him in… well, forever. He smiled back shyly.
“This is him.” The headmaster sighed. “I was just about to send for you. You see…”
“Oh, I know all about it.” The counselor brushed away whatever was about to be said. “I heard he was down here, and I just had to come and meet him. He has quite the reputation.”
“Yes,” the older man said softly, without amusement. “He certainly does.”
“And I know just what we can do to help him.”
“You do?” both the other people in the office said at once, shocked. How could he already know after one morning? Without even talking to Bam?
“The drama program!” he exclaimed.
This was met with dead silence.

smut, vam
