[The Doctor glances up from the main desk, having been doing a routine check on the computer filing systems. He quirks a brow with something almost like a grin before standing up fully and nodding.]

I ought to shunt you for the nonce, you know- there's no telling whether or not you've learned your lesson. You also happen to be, however, my most reliable employee. If I make certain to keep the others involved from the library, have I got your word you'll behave in here? And that you won't go conspiring against anyone while you're here?

[Ardent sighed a little,] Well, the Master's gone, did you know? As for Arthas... he's crazier than expected, so I doubt that'll happen.

You can't kick me out, Doctor, come on. Otherwise you're relying on who? Randal? To do a good job.

I don't recall definitively kicking you out, actually. In fact, I rather believe I insinuated you could stay, under that condition.

And to be honest, I don't rely on Randal for a single thing here, aside from making my job more strenuous.

I was pre-empting matters. I'm glad you're letting me stay. [Ray probably wouldn't like that when he got back, but Ray could stuff it as far as Ardent was concerned. These books needed him.]

I don't see why you don't kick him out. He's most disrespectful to the books.

As for Randal, I'm not entirely certain why I haven't. He's certainly irksome and disrespectful, but... somehow, he's beginning to grow on me, a bit. I ought to tell you about Tegan someday.
