Is this really all you stupid humans can think to write about?
No wonder words were wasted on you.
I don't hate humans, by the way. Nor Roundworlders. Humans only have a habit of getting in the way of my plans, and usually, they're Watchmen, and it's to be expected. I just really hate it here, and really hate being in a world which doesn't appreciate the nature of my race half as much as a city which I considered human-skewed and a corrupting influence on Dwarfs.
There's three wardens here I don't actively hate - even the ones who try not to play into the human bias of the place end up doing so. And Ray. I miss Ray, sometimes. He was infuriatingly conscientious and most definitely a human watchman, but he tried. For all his faults, the effort he put in was obvious. I can't fault a man for hard work. I still have the hoodie he gave me for a port. I only wear it when I'm cleaning my other clothes, but I do like it.
Dwarfs are communal by nature. Miners - I presume humans mine on the Roundworld? - are very, very close communities. It can drive you mad, that's true. But I led those communities, I helped them live by the Laws that defined them. I was a priest, a legal advisor, a political figure and a scholar all at the same time. I could get Dwarfs to obey me - through respect, not abuse - with a wave of my hand.
And here, I have to fight and fight for even a corner of that community. A corner of that authority. A tiny little bit of what I'm really a part of.
You humans should be glad your biggest concerns are sex, apparently. Some of us are still bitter at being denied anything that fits into their frame of reference, to the point where another Dwarf turns up and I pin all my hopes of a real, functional community between us on him.
And I am trying to tell myself it won't fail. It will.
Footnotes:
Oh, and if you humans really want to talk about sex: If you remember Saffron - me and her made out during a flood. I kissed Rose once - it was the mistletoe, and more than a little strange, but it was a good kiss. I can entirely see why human men like Sveta, but find that kind of attraction strange. Yorg has a very nice beard, and I did ask Arthas whether he was female or not. For humans, Sexby, Caesares, Tirion, that Wednesday man and Iroh all make admirable attempts, but have nothing on Yorg. Also, you are all very odd to have such a fixation with Coyolxauhqui's breasts. Grow up.
