[This is gasped out desperately, like he's in severe pain,]

It's a lie! It's a... For the love of Tak, it's a trick... don't... no. No. That is not...

Fuck. Fuck, my head. [several Dwarfish curse words in here]

[There's several pained gasps inwards,]

You will pay for this, Na... [there's a cry of pain as the headache gets worse,]

Help. It's ( Read more... )

Room. Where the [dwarfish curse] else would I be?

[slight clatter. Ardent's gone to hide in a corner now he's getting help.]

[She considers, just for a moment, leaving him alone for his attitude, but she resists the temptation.]

Give me a few minutes to get a few things.

~

[And after about ten minutes, she knocked at his door. Her worry had been growing since she left her room.]

[Ardent doesn't answer immediately, as he's currently curled up in the darkest corner of his mind, head buried in hands, and her knocking is like a drill into his skull. If Narvin was responsible for this too, he really would... that thought was swiftly cut off by another spike of pain in his head,

Eventually, after a long pause, he makes the effort to call out to her, his own voice pounding inside his head] It's open.

[He doesn't sound too good at all.]

[She opened the door and stepped inside, fighting down the instant panic that arose at the overwhelming darkness. But, she brought light with her and switched it on, finding him buried in his hood. Hurrying over, she dropped to a knee and rested the light on the ground, facing up, towards the ceiling. She didn't have time to mess with his candles.]

Ardent, I need you to look at me.

[He was vaguely aware how undignified this was, but he'd had to try anything he could to stop it hurting, and getting into the darkest corner, under his hood, seemed like a good idea. Trust this to strike whilst Narvin was peddling lies across the Barge and he had to stop him, he had to make him...

He cursed in Dwarfish, but pushed his hood back and looked up at Sveta. She could help him. Then he could sort the situation out. Axe or no axe, Narvin wasn't going to like what...]

Fuck.

[She didn't even respond to that. Instead, she held up one finger and moved it slowly off to the side.] Watch here. [Pause.] When did all of this start? Did you get hit, did something happen? Is anything else hurting?

[He watched her finger closely, as he was told, and then shook his head - it hurt less when he was thinking of those answers instead of where he really wanted to be,]

Nothing hit me. Nothing happened, and it's just my head. I... It started when I was [oh, the pain was seeping back in again, and he still had to censor himself a little, as she was a warden,] I was going to see my warden.

[He gives her a pained, desperate look, which probably gave away more about why he was going to see Narvin than anything he could have said.]

I saw. [She wasn't going to elaborate on what Narvin had revealed. It wasn't going to help the situation.] What did you do before that?

[She dropped her hand and just started digging in her bag, waiting for his answer.]

[He grimaced,] Nothing. I was trying to... I was finding myself in the darkness.

[He buried his head back in his hands,] Then he said that, and I was going to... going to... [dammit, pain was shooting up again,] talk to him about it and it was like I'd been stabbed in the... oh Tak, Sveta, what's happening? What?

[She looked more than worried and held two pills in her hand. She didn't give them over just yet.] Has this ever happened before? At home or here?

No. Never. [He looked up at her a little desperately,] Please help. Please do something...

[That actually broke through her "tough doctor" routine and she handed him the pills.] These might help. They're just...a painkiller. If they don't, I can move to something stronger, but you might need to come to the infirmary in case it's something...really serious.

[He took them and swallowed hard, without even thinking of getting water, just wanting something that worked.]

I can't, Sveta. If it's this bad in the dark, the light... no, Sveta, no.

[This better not be something serious. He had a warden to... deal with.]

You can. If it's something serious, I mean. [She sat back, adjusting the light.] I'm sorry, there might not be another option.

It just makes it worse... [He took a deep breath inwards, willing the drugs to work,] Will this work soon? I... oh, damn, Sveta.
