Train woes

I had planned not to rant about it -- but two days in a row is one 'two' much!
Yesterday, somehow by some sheer unprecedented luck, I managed to get a place to rest my butt in a really crowded local train. Even so, I was far from being comfortably seated in the stuffy and hot compartment, what with the less fortunate crowd of standees constantly ( Read more... )

Ah, intrepid foe of mothers who believe that dangling children are a universal free entry pass, valiant arch enemy of little unmannered poxes who in the garb of infancy hide their hideous selves and their nefarious designs which is nothing but dominion over reason itself, I commend thee. These blight-blot children (and may their tribe be enslaved) and their blot-blight mothers (on whom may good sense dawn) believe, and with good reason I fain admit, that they have prevailed. But inshallah it shall not be so. So long as there is even a spark of rebellion alive, it will be fanned and the flame shall burst forth from the ashes again. Victory shall be ours. Right shall be right because wrong is not right. Right?

In recognition of your services to this long and momentous struggle wherein territories of mind and heart and train compartment seats, have to be won inch by inch, I, on behalf of all those who cannot fathom what-is-the-big-deal-about-children-who-are-nothing-but-selfish-little-pests, tap thee, Deepa Suryanarayan, thrice on the shoulder with the flat of my sword’s blade and pronounce you Knightess (or is it Knightee or Knigh or Nigh with the K loud-loud as opposed to silent, see the joke, see see see).

So long as warriors like you exist, this cause will never perish. Long after you are gone, stories will be told of your valour. A statue will be erected in every school and nursery, and young children when they get swept away by the emotion of their parents’ indulgence will glance up at your granite eyes and then, after a moment’s silence, will in flat voice reply, “Mother, you are wrong.”

Thank you for that commendation. I'm just glad there is another being that has joined my little army of rebels. I hope our cause never perishes...
Heaven forbid! What will happen to the population on this planet otherwise?!

More profound words than these were never uttered... :-)
