Jonny spent Saturday night and most of yesterday with Jen's father and his partner. It was nice to have 24 hours without him underfoot. We bought some Christmas gifts for him and decorated the house, and I organized the sock drawer, which I'm inordinately proud of. Apparently Jonny was quite the gentleman over the weekend. When Jen and I walked around the corner to her dad's place, Jonny was there waiting for us on the sidewalk, bundled up in his parka and toddling around the big city like he was an old pro at this walking business. It was like he aged several months overnight. I think we spoil him here at home.

I want to get serious about my fitness. I don't care so much about my weight, and I only care a little bit about my figure, but as I've said countless times before, I want to be fit enough to backpack for a few days with a heavy pack in elevated terrain. That probably won't happen overnight, or even next year, but it's my long-term goal. I know I can walk 7-8 miles at a stretch with a light pack, but that seems to be right at my current limit. Twenty push-ups and thirty sit-ups are my current calisthenic limits.

Bleh. I hate that I let myself go for so long. Eight years ago I could run a six minute mile and all sorts of awesome stuff that fit people can do. I'll likely never get to that point again (running hurts too much for me to get back into it as a regular thing), but I'm tired of being a round lump on the couch.
