A hippy trailhead full of zombie.

Not a bad weekend. It wasn't anything exciting or revolutionary, but at least we got out of the house a couple times. On Saturday we drove east to pick a pumpkin, eat some roasted corn, and buy a pie, but Jonny was in a whiny mode, so we stayed out only long enough to get the pumpkin. Yesterday we went back and completed the other tasks. Jen loves roasted corn and apple cider from farm stands in the fall, and we both love blueberry cream pies all year long, so it was nice. And Jonny was so much happier in the car yesterday.

I'm in one of my wanderlust moods... Really, though, being somewhere else in the world or country and having adventures is my constant wish, so I wouldn't call it a "mood" so much as "my usual frame of mind." I have to fill out my visa application paperwork so I can work in Turkey next summer; my advisor is in a hurry to turn it all in at once, so I'll try to get it all done tonight. It's something nice to look forward to, even if it is eight months away. I only wish I had something more immediate to look forward to.

Elia has already brushed aside my suggestion of a low-key meetup and lunch date in New Haven. Tina was enthusiastic about the idea of me visiting her in Boston, but her MO is to be super enthusiastic right up until it's time to make plans, at which point she almost invariably disappears, not to respond to texts again for another month or two. I swear I have the lamest friends sometimes.

Oh well. Friends or no, I want to get off the island someday soon.

jonny, friends
