i can only hope that the rest of this summer is as awesome as today was....minus the drug testing thing.
so i woke up, watched queer eye (can't get enough of that show), cleaned up, got Thunder, Lightning, Strike in the mail and tore it out of the packaging, and then it was off to the drug lab. after finally finding the place, i went through with what turned out to be a painless-but-nonetheless-awkward drug test. they needed a form of picture id, so as i was sitting in the waiting room, i was looking at my driver's license and laughing at the picture, what with my 'fro and all. the woman at the lab, upon examining the license, kind of gave me a look like she wasn't sure if the kid in the picture on my license was actually me, and then she asked how long ago the picture was taken, which was about 2 and a half years ago, and said something like, "you've matured a little since then, huh?" not quite knowing what she was implying with the question, i confusedly and amusedly just laughed and was like "yeah, a little bit" or something (i probably read way too much into it; i just hope she wasn't hitting on me or something--that'dve been pretty gross). i won't go into detail regarding the procedure itself, but the word "awkward" pretty much sums up the whole experience.
after that, i went to the bank and (finally) deposited my last checks from siena. it could've been a poignant moment, but it wasn't.
then i went running all over town looking for The Life Aquatic 2-disc dvd, but best buy, media play, and circuit city all left me hanging (typical). so before heading out to borders where i knew they would have it (which they did), i stopped in at old navy to visit alex for a little bit. i hung out with her and her headset for a minute or two, trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out where some shirts she had were supposed to go, then it was off to borders. i probably would've gotten The Office dvd too, but all the tv show dvds were locked up in some cabinet and i didn't feel like asking anyone why, so i just took my The Life Aquatic and ran (after paying for it, of course).
then i came home, hung out and had some eggs, went over to the house for a minute so my mom could show me what progress had been made and so my dad could show me the huge logs that i'm supposed to cut up with a chainsaw eventually (that should be interesting), went and had dinner at grandma and grandpa's (where i grilled up the steaks, something i've recently taken a liking to doing), and that's pretty much all she wrote.
so as i said before, this summer should be fantastic if the rest of it can turn out to be as great as today was. oh, and by the by, i know this album came out last year, but i think "Huddle Formation" is gonna have to be my theme song for this summer. that or "Ladyflash." or maybe the whole album. we'll see.
