Dear Yuletide Writer
Hi there Yuletide Penguin of Excellentness, and welcome to my letter. I've tried to go into a bit more detail about what I'd like here. I do want to say, however, that I absolutely truly appreciate anything that you choose to write. These are all fandoms I love, and knowing that someone else loves them too and would write them for me makes me so happy.
YULETIDE USERNAME: DEENSE
There are things that I would prefer to not be in any fic I get. Any sort of dubious consensuality, animal cruelty and excessive violence are the big ones. I am okay with both het and slash, as well as gen, any rating, and I love character driven pieces. Now onto the specifics!
Disney Princesses
Characters: Jasmine, Belle, Ariel, Megara
Original Request: There are two very different things I’d love to see happen with this request. The first would be the princesses solving a mystery Nancy Drew team up style, and the other would be the Princesses in a very Noir setting (mystery optional but always welcome)
Additional Info: I know that I had two ideas that I got stuck on, but honestly one of the things I really love is the Princesses in different settings, working together. Want to make them superheroes, or sisters, or simply friends? Go for it. Want to put them into different periods in time, sure. I love Belle’s determination and intelligence, Jasmine and Megara’s fierceness and independence, and Ariel’s sense of wonder and her curiosity. Those are the things that I really want to see in the story, everything else is up to you. The one thing I really don’t want to see is them fighting with each other or over Prince Charming of any version.
Fables
Character: Cinderella
Original Request: The Cinderella spin off has been one of my favourite comics of the past few years. That she poses as a vapid socialite but is really a spy for Fabletown is something I love. I’d love to see more of her background as a spy, a further development of her relationship with Bigby, or Snow or in Fabletown in general.
Additional Information: First of all, I should mention that I wrote a Cinderella story last year, it’s here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/140526 But I love the character, and I love how she’s been developed. I enjoy the dichotomy of her life, and seeing the two sides conflict or her dealing with how Fabletown (or Charming’s other exes) views her is something I’d really enjoy as well. Or a spy story, one based on the excerpts in the first miniseries or something original.
Downton Abbey
Characters: Mary Crawley, Sybil Crawley, Edith Crawley
Original Request: The Crawley sisters are fascinating, and the possibilities of what I’s like to see are endless. It doesn’t necessarily have to feature all three sisters either, though I have listed them all. Perhaps a look at Bates and Mary and why they’re so close, something about the sisters growing up, a story from Sybil’s point of view showing what it was like being the youngest of those three, or something with Anna and her relationship with the sisters as a Lady’s maid.
EDIT: I know I said Bates and Mary but I meant CARSON and Mary. My bad. Utter brain and getting in Yuletide entry fail.
Additional Information: Honestly, Downton Abbey is one of my favourite things and the first thing that I must watch each week when it’s out. I love the Crawley family and their intertwined lives, and I’m entirely happy seeing other members of the family or household brought into the story as long as it centres around at least one of the Crawley sisters. I am a fan of Matthew/Mary and Branson/Sybil, but any exploration of the sisters’ lives will make me happy.
Sons of Anarchy
Characters: Jax Teller, Gemma Teller Morrow, Clay Morrow, Tara Knowles
Original Request: What I would love is to see any sort of background story, it doesn't have to include all four characters. What happened with Jax and Tara the first time around? Jax and Clay when Jax was new to the club or a prospect. Something about Gemma and Clay, even going back as far as when they first got together. Gemma and Jax being mother and son and their brilliant yet difficult relationship, even Gemma and Tara at some point, including when Jax and Clay were in jail.
Additional Information: This is another of my very favourite shows. The relationships are a lot of what make it for me, and how intertwined all the characters are. Their loyalties war with one another - to each other, the club, what they think is right. Life has never been what you'd call easy for the Teller-Morrow clan but there was definitely a time where things were better. I'd like something set either before the show, or in the case of Gemma and Tara during the 14 month break between season 3 and 4. It doesn't have to include all four, but they are my favourites and as long as it focuses in on two of them I'll be so happy. Any of the other characters having a role, especially Opie or Bobby would be cool too.
