shite!

I was taking a nap, and one of the cats knocked down Terry's favorite lamp from his deceased mom. I feel horrible! I am dreading when he gets home from work. I am off to Amazon to see if I can find one comparable to his. I feel like shite for letting this happen, he's going to be so mad. At me. :(

Oh sweetie, I'm sorry and I hope he won't blame you. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy who would. You didn't let it happen. How can you control cats? It was an accident!

And I know all about feeling sentimental about things about in the end, it's just that. A thing, no matter who it came from.

He wasn't mad, I blew it up (his words) I would have been upset, so I assumed he would be too. I texted him before he got home with pics of the lamp. I think he had time to cool down before he got home. He knew I was pretty upset. I ordered a Tiffany lamp to replace it.

((((hugs back))))

Oh ... BUMMER! I know what it's like to break something that was meaningful to Ray. I knocked over his grandmother's lamp that sat on the end table next to our couch. It wasn't even my cat that did it. It was my clumsiness when moving other things on that table. I felt very bad, and we, too went out to find a new lamp. One of the requirements was a lamp that wasn't so tippy or breakable should it fall.

I've also had things of meaning to me broken. Ray's grandmother also gave me a porcelain cat that Scott broke when he was around 5 years old. He was old enough to understand and obey my instructions not to touch or pick it up unless I was with him. But he picked it up anyway, and it slipped out of his hands, and part of its leg broke off. He knew he'd done wrong and hid it under a chair, but I found it. I was lucky and was able to glue the leg back on, and it still sits out. Ironically, I now smile when I see it. The glued leg reminds me how much Scott loved it!

Yet - the point I want to make is that even though this ( ... )
