i probably had one of the best times of my life. went to north carolina for a few days with my friends tiff and aaron. we stayed at aaron's parents'. aaron said the house was in the mountains, but i didn't think it was literally in the middle of a mountain. it was awesome...waking up in the morning....no need for air conditioning...the beautiful view...the fresh mountain breeze. couldn't ask for more.
monday we went to mingo falls. there's this bridge where the public can stand over the bottom of the water fall and take pictures. but we went around the bridge and hiked up the side of the waterfall. at some points it was like we were doing a straight vertical climb. anyhow...we were able to climb to the uppermost parts of the waterfall where no one can see us. we just stood in the water and let it fall on us. the way i'm describing this does the experience no justice. it was just amazing.
that night we drove out to Andrews, NC to go to a youth camp that tiff's friend amy works at called Snowbirds. very cool. they had everything...paintball, a zip line, an obstacle course, white water rafting, horseback riding, 3 man swing, rock climbing....way cool. since it's a christian youth camp, they had service that night, so we stuck around for that. they're doing some absolutely outstanding things with these kids.
tuesday we hiked unnecessarily to this waterfall that is now closed off to the the public. that was frustrating. but we made it to another one where with the help of a rope you could climb up the rock and jump off. that was super fun! aaron's sister, jen, came with and took pictures. hopefully i'll have them up soon. oh yea...i met a bon-a-fide mountain man. from afar he looked kinda sketchy, but he swam up to us, and what i sight to see he was. he climbs up onto the rock with his rippling muscles, water trickling off his luscious, curly, wet, mullet, a chest thriving with thick, brown hair....ooo, i just wanted to run my fingers through it. he was our unofficial tour guide of the river, told us where to jump and where not to jump b/c a friend of his in high school accidentally hit his head on a rock hidden in the water and the only way he survived is b/c he was drunk and didn't tense up on impact. yea...good times. and he was half sequoia indian and sicilian or something. righteous!
the only problems were poor aaron had poor directions on the way up and way back. well actually, he fell asleep on the way up and assumed that tiff knew where she was going. wrong. then on the way back we wanted to stop in ATL to go shopping and have lunch, and aaron gave us directions going around ATL, so we missed out on that. whatever. but we stopped in Jonesboro, GA at Applebee's and had the bomb service from this black woman Lula. she kept calling us 'baby' and 'honey child'...it was great. then while taking our dishes away she spilled dressing on the table and was like 'man, i shoulda been safe rather than sorry 21 jump street style.' yup, she said it. needless to say, we left a bomb tip.
ok...i went to tampa too, but i'll update that later...i must go to worketh.
