Surprise evening out.
After the ordeal that was Friday I didn't do that much on Saturday other than a leisurely stroll across to Clifton Vale and then down into town in the late afternoon. I bought some Xmas cards that I plan to write out today.
I didn't have anything planned for yesterday until early in the afternoon when LJ Alen mentioned, more or less in passing that he might go to The Griffin as there was a cabaret and a stripper on. I don't go in for cabaret, well not drag cabaret, that much but Topping & Butch on the other have a high reputation so I thought I'd go along. I wanted to chat with Alen about next Saturday's OUT Coffee Possé* anyway so even if they were not that good there was that and the stripper. Topping and Butch were hilarious and kept the rather crowded Griffin amused for over an hour.
The stripper (College Boy) just happened to be the same guy as last year but I was not expecting to participate like last year. That was until he dragged me up on stage for his finale! - it was not that rude. Alen, Philip, who had joined us by that point, and I then went for a pizza before Philip gave us a lift home.
Following the problems with my car on Friday and the fact that its 60,000 mile service is due I booked it in for a service yesterday. Luckily they were able to do it today so I was out of the house by 8:30 to drive across to SMG Rover on Feeder Road. I walked back via the Galleries where I had a coffee. This is the expensive £450 service where they almost everything including the cam belt so my wallet is going to be a bit light for a while. I also asked them to go a through check of the coolant system. I'll walk back to Feeder Road later to pick it up.
It's back up to Enfield tomorrow morning but on the upside I only have four days work left until the new year (two days this week and two next week).
* Actually it's not a coffee posse proper due to reasons that I may go into in the future. Whatever it's called it will be the usual afternoon of chat in the Hatchet followed by a meal, possibly another pub and because it's Xmas a visit to Vibes or the Shilling.
