Title: Venom and Vodka
Pairing: Russia/Australia
Genre: Manly Men Doing Manly Man Things, AU, D/s, Power Exchange Universe
Rating: Adult
Summary: No one really expected Russia to have a steady, consensual relationship. No one would have even thought it would be with Australia of all nations.
Notes: So remember when I said I was taking a break from my Power Exchange AU? Yeaah. That worked right up until CarrieC offered up something along the line of Russia and Australia having manly man sex on a mountain side, in the middle of a desert, after wrestling crocs and bears. And thus, this idea was born.
No one is really quite sure how it happened, or even how it got started. Frankly, it makes most of their heads hurt to even think about it. Really, Russia? Having regular, consensual sex? With Australia of all nations? Oddly enough, the only one who says anything is Austria - and his sole comment is that Australia had to have been trying to get a latent desire for his father figure out of his psyche. No one really believes it.
But in actuality, the story is much, much simpler then anyone imagines.
As with most things, it starts with a world meeting. Pay outs are being handed out by Switzerland to the lucky nations that won the England-America betting pool - oddly, Romano had come out the best from that, although others pick up novelty bits of the pile. Germany is yelling for order, France is ignoring everything in favor of trying to feel up his partners - who take it in their normal stride. All in all, it’s a usual world meeting, right up until the discussion on the new Australian-led charge on the International Classification of Disease comes up.
And suddenly, the had-been-hidden-until-now relationship comes flying out into the open, and nations abruptly look for cover.
“I think I can handle whatever you can dish out, mate,” Jake snaps irritably, throwing a sheet of paper on the table. “I wrestle crocs in m’spare time, poofter.”
Ivan rolls his eyes at the younger nation from across the room. Ivan has offered a counter proposal to Jake’s own - one where most of the work in recoding the ICD database will be handled in a large part by outsourcing, where as Jake’s will have most of the work spread out through the various member nations of the WHO. “And I, bears in below zero weather. Your point?”
“My point,” Jake says, holding onto the beer he’d snuck in to the meeting like his life depends on it - and frankly he is Australia, so it does depend on it - “is that, it doesn’t matter if I’m just a sub, I’m just as tough - if not tougher - than you. Christ, you remind me of the pommie bastard.”
Somehow Arthur keeps from saying anything at being compared to Ivan Braginski, of all nations, though it might have something to do with the way Alfred slaps a fast hand over his mouth. Alfred, for his part, is just sitting there, mouth open and eyes wide. Half a second after he says that, taunts Ivan in public like that, Jake Kirkland regrets his words.
Ivan smiles, not in any particular fashion - just a gentle smile that never quite reaches his eyes - and leans forward across the table to rest his hand on the page Jake has thrown between them. “Oh, zaichik moi, I believe that I am well aware of just how tough you are,” he whispers, just loud enough for the rest of the room to hear, reaching out across the messy table with its layers of carelessly strewn papers with his other hand to trace his thumb down Jake’s cheek.
There is silence for perhaps a few heartbeats, just long enough for the clock to tick over with one loud sickening thud. Jake watches as time slows down to a crawl. He could see the way shock, then horror slowly crawls across his family’s faces, the way that Arthur slowly stands up, shrugging off Alfred’s limp hands. Next to them, Angus’ face begins to turn brick red, mouth opening as he, too, starts to stand up, hands gripping the table’s edge.
It’s odd, he thought, seeing the way everything slows down, moves at a crawl, and then speeds up frantically.
Chairs go flying, papers are thrown to the ceiling, and various countries dive for cover as the two nations representing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland make a sudden charge toward the sole representative of the Russian Federation.
Unsurprisingly not only was the meeting promptly cancelled, but less then five minutes later, Switzerland had no less then three open betting pools on the state - or non state - of Ivan and Jake’s relationship.
