I don't mind Valentine's Day decorations, but that's because I've always been a sucker for cheesy holiday traditions. I'm going to be one of those people with a million light-up reindeer in their yard for Christmas every year, lol . . .

However, totally with you on silly this holiday can make people. I hate PDAs. I refused to do anything more than hold hands or good-bye kiss with my boyfriend because I felt I was "flaunting," and it had always driven me crazy when other people did it.

I too would much rather prefer to celebrate love on a day of meaningfulness to the relationship itself, such as an anniversary. Also, just a special day for no reason can be much more fun-- it's spontaneous and creates a memory (not to mention everyone else isn't trying to reserve tables for two!). Plus, yeah, it's been a holiday of bitterness for me every single year of my life-- and will be again this year, even after a semester of having a boyfriend. Shoot, Valentine's Day even sucked in elementary school when you could tell some kids got better Valentines from others based on who was most popular!

I all for decorations, don't get me wrong. People swear I must have an orgasm putting up tinsel... I LOVE tinsel. I can't stand not having decorations up for a holiday that is fun etc. Easter damn it if I don't have easter eggs and easter bunnies. Halloween is the best time of the year and if they think I won't decorate for it they got another thing coming. I mean shit I'll even leap on Feb 29th. But on Feb 14th no fucking way am I celebrating it.
The-evil-day-that-shall-not-be-mentioned on the other hand is not one of those holidays that I find much point to. If you dig deep underneath all the Hallmark crap, and other cheesy disgusting pink heart filled GROSSNESS (I have a major thing against pink) it's to remind people that you love someone out there. My point being. What if you don't need to be reminded that you love someone? I don't need to be reminded that I love my cat, and he SURELY doesn't need to be reminded that he loves me.
Elementary school Valentines sucked. I always got the least. Middle school I got carnations from teachers (they took the little to: from: card off) and gave it to me because they felt bad. High school well... I'd rather not say.
Feb 14th is a popularity contest and all around just marketed to the masses, and to me holds no more meaning than the words "I love you" from my grandparents. It's just things people do to think, fell, and believe they're accepted. When in fact it's just emptiness behind the gesture.
