Ah man, I'm tired today. Yesterday we dragged our broken down washer and dryer out of the basement and replaced them with two, not so shiny or new replacements but they run and that's all that matters. Thank you
freecycle.org, you are amazing.
It was not a fun job. In fact, it was a long and fairly disgusting job that we never would have completed without the invaluable aid from my uncle who can fix anything, fight bears, jump out of planes AND impart life-changing words of wisdom. All at the same time.
Seriously, the man is like a 60 year old Captain America.
Anyway, we finished up the long day of work in 80+ degree weather only to find out about an hour later that the main pipe to our shower had burst somewhere in the wall.
Seven hours, three trips to the hardware store, two replacement pipes and one giant hole in my parent's bedroom later and I think we are about done fixing the damage.
Why is it that whenever you try to fix one thing, immediately something else breaks to replace it? Does everyone suffer from this strange law for the natural order of things or is it just us?
On the bright side, I got to catch the games closing ceremonies last night- which were a little strange and sadly lacking in any appearances of The Doctor but quite fun overall. I really liked getting to see all of the athletes enter the arena together and Japan's reactions to the giant octopus dance off cracked me up. Have to admit the John Lennon sculpture creeped me out tho. But now that it's over I feel like I don't know what to do with myself. I was sitting with my tuna sandwich, watching The Who and I could suddenly feel the next four years stretching out impossibly before me.
*sighs* And I thought waiting for the next season of Sherlock was bad.
Thankfully, the Discovery channel must have known that the season finale of Teen Wolf tonight wouldn't be enough to completely shelf my post-Olympic woes-- so they gave me Shark Week.
YEEEAAHHH SHARK WEEK!!!
