Cut out my heart and stick a fork in it. The most recent episode of Supernatural, Dark side of the Moon, was a thing of beauty.
Livejournal has gone mad with discussion posts about this newest installment to the Winchester Gospels, so I'm not going to bother loading you down with yet another recap post. I figure that everything that can be said, has been by this point but if you're looking for some food for thought, check out alethialia 's (here), felisblanco 's (here) and lassiterfics 's (here) posts on the subject.
I don't know about you, but once the credits rolled I was in some pretty desperate need for a hug. So here is my list of the top three 5.16 follow up fics which helped me feel like the world could be a good place again.

The first text message Castiel gets isn’t from Dean. It’s from Sam.
He’d perched at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge, invisible to the human eye, and watched the cars and humans travel below him. Blurs of color and sound, oblivious to the chaos their world had fallen to, and somewhere, amidst it all, God stands and is unmoved.
Beautiful and emotive with spot on Castiel searching for something he can't put a name to.
Holy Shit, You're One of a Kind by hereare_mysins
Pairing/ Characters: None, Team Free Will

Author's Summary: AHHH maychorian look at what you are doing to me! I wrote another one of her prompt where Castiel is touched or surprised by something the boys did for him. It turned into the sequel to We Got You which also came from that commentfic meme. DEAR GOD!!!!
"You know, we should do something for Castiel."
Dean turned his head, taking another swig of beer, his eyes still flickering over to the television as a re-run of Dr. Sexy comes on. "What do you mean? Like, buy him more minutes?"
In which Sam proves just how awesome he can be and Castiel gets back something lost.
Surprise Pie and Out of Service by maskedfangirl
Pairing/ Characters: None, Castiel, Bobby
Word Count: ~2,500
Rating: PG
Author's Summary: From newt_slash's prompt: A really ill Cas shows up at Bobby's when the boys aren't there. Bobby has to care for him until they get back.
Bobby’s always been pretty good at figuring out omens. It’s less a book learning thing and more a gut reaction - being able to tell when a couple dead cattle are dead ‘cause of something fishy, knowing when a prickly feeling up the back of his neck is just a chill or not. (He should’ve known with Karen. No, God help him, he did know. He knew. He takes another drink.) So Bobby knows, even through the haze of whiskey, that when a gale fit for the big bad wolf rattles the windows and lightning streaks across the still sky, this storm ain’t just a storm.
Castiel takes refuge at Bobby's and over whiskey and pie, they find a common ground.
