"I'm not doing my work, stupid school," says the silly student

Sep 26, 2003 15:55

after the teacher has so graciously put extra time and effort into his education and progress.

The student then exits stage right and pounds fist into door.

Other actions followed, but I am too tired to list them here. My log entry at work today was several pages, just for this student. Oh, the joys of children!

The consequence I gave him today for his ridiculously inappropriate behavior will cost this student his placement in the program. He might be off to psychiatric facility. Do I like this kid? Very much. Is it my fault? No. Do I feel bad about all of this. Hell yes! What can I do? It is my job to hold them accountable. How could I tolerate disrespect, insubordination, and unprovoked wrath? I can't...it would be unprofessional, as well as doing him a disservice. I care and I give my all, but I will not tolerate that type of behavior. I just can't.

Does it get any better than this?

I sure hope it does.
