The Results
MESA Technology Group, LLC took home the Top Young Entrepreneurship Award - Best Undergraduate Business Plan from the 2006 Fisher Business Plan Competition. Not quite as nice as a top 3 overall award would have been, but we were still given special recognition for putting together a plan that stood far above competing undergraduate plans as well as individual mention of Erin soon being one of the first graduates with the new Entrepreneurship minor-- in addition to two non-business students beating out all the other undergrad teams ;)
So, while we'll have to seek out real funding for the company separately, at least we have a nice glass monument/plaque to remember our accomplishment and a nice $2,000 bonus to help pay off the wedding and various other upcoming expenses. We have also come out far better prepared to run this business and others, and giving these presentations has almost completely eliminated our fear of public speaking. All things considered, it really was a lot of fun and I can't wait to have the opportunity to compete again and present in front of potential investors.
