Some time ago I got a netgear wireless router from a lovely Freecycler.
Finally de-dusted and set up my old desktop for the "roommate" to use. Got tech advice and a brief chat with pyro in the process because of a dangling cable. Seems it really just needed a good de-dusting because the power supply isn't making weird noises anymore. Go-go-gadget can of air!
Finally set up wireless for my laptop, at which I was totally spastic and had to call my father to guide me through basics. Yay, wireless!
Trumped my dad when he couldn't figure out in a jiffy why we couldn't get internet on the desktop. We took a break, and I recalled that we had assigned IP's when we had the crazy two-apartment network. Yay, self-confidence building exercise in the end.
Next on the tech stuff is setting up the vpn and other switch things so my roommate can use the printer/scanner in my room while he's in his.
Trivia: Once upon a time I used to be a computer science major. But I was a lazy programmer. :)
