Ha ha well, 3+ months since the last post, is it? Uh...
It's been kind of a blur. Reason = all my freakin jobs. I have too many jobs. Too many DAY jobs. And today's main task is picking up another one. (I am beating myself with a stick to work up enthusasim for that. And failing. Hence LJ...)
Last week I STOLE 2 whole days to work on comics. Stole them! And it wasn't that kitty-foot sneak-thief in the night black turtleneck kind of stealing. It was BLOOD AND THUNDER BIG PIRATE SHIP CUTLASS IN TEEF SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE WITH BLUNDERPUSS stealing. Sound off computer, no email, no chat, no landline, cell phone OFF and AGGRESSIVELY ignoring things that I should have been doing to make myself some money for 2 whole days and that was all I got, all I could manage before Reality beat down the door, barged in, sat its fat ass down on my couch watching fox news and eating cheetos where it's been since, metaphorically speaking. Damn it.
So too many dayjobs and not enough nightjobs-- cause you can kinda feel the creative juice backing up in your throat when you don't get enough time to draw, can't you? So you steal 2 days or your head explodes.
Dee's Greyscale-Coded Key to Job Classification
If the Dayjob = WORKING FOR THE MAN, aka BREAKING ROCKS IN THE HOT SUN
and the Nightjob = Dee's many art projects who sniff and cry from neglect at her feet like a thick pile of squirmy puppies...
then lastly there's the Twilight job which is toning Nightschool for
Yen+. Chapter 4 went to press week before last and it just keeps getting better and better, you go Svetlana. I gotta think that the best part of working on Canada's book is getting to see it before it's actually published, which, you know, HERE'S ANOTHER PUPPY AT MY FEET cause after every chapter my brain shrieks DOUJINSHIIIIIII!!! Probably something to do with the sleep deprivation after the crushing deadline all-nighters, dunno, but mostly with the series' amazing cast of characters like the biggest box of crayons you can imagine.
The stories I could tell about the stuff that goes on to get a chapter of NS out the door more or less on time every single month. If I can figure out a way to do that without getting busted, next post, next post :D
In the meantime, I committed fan art...
Couldn't help it. :D;;;;;;
Oh yeah, and I also went to SDCC in that blur-time since April too and had a blast with the Art Posse. Pics coming from that.
K, right, back to work. T_T
