Back! Er, till tomorrow
Back from LA, had an awesome time spending the week with Myung, meeting new people and hooking up with mah buddies from the Wrong Coast. Can't blog this properly since I'm back on the plane to NYC tomorrow morning to spend the week in the city with Canada doing research for NS. And I haven't exactly packed yet. ^_^;; Even so, have to get down a bulleted list, at least, or I won't remember any of this by the time I return.
Gaming Industry: sucks. Work schedules are feast or famine, skate or panic and Myung was in crunch mode my whole visit, stealing time away from a visit we'd planned for months. Still, Take a Dee to Work Day = total success. Gawd, the concept artists down there and their so big SKILLS, I worship them as the gods they are...
Shaved Ice: CA, you are the promised land for this delicacy. The goal was one a day and though we managed somewhat less it was still a righteous survey. The last visit = Mocchilato, a combo of mocchi and gellato Italian style iced cream, SO good and omg so freaking aesthetic...
Freeways: ARGH. DEATH. ARGH. Almost 3 hours to get into LA from Anaheim for lunch one day.
Guitar Hero: instantly addicted. Bought III yesterday. My middle finger hurts. :(
Amy G: has the inside dope on best of the best tastes in JapanTown in LA. And makes the best shepherds pie I've ever had, a wonderful dinner party and a welcoming home. All that BESIDES the cool AND the story I'm so looking forward to reading. Also, the juicy saw, it cuts right through you. :D
San Fran: you beautiful, beautiful city on the bay. 2 days was not enough. Sea lions: ARF ARF ARF
Lizzo: my high school best buddy, how is it we still get along??
Tacto: a toast to new friends and kindred spirits. And that windmill. And staying up talking all night about comics cause sleep is for times when you don't have anything else to do...
Airport floors: good place to sleep. Get a spot in the corner so you don't get stepped on. :D
YaoiCon: we spent exactly 2 and a half hours there, I shoudl have budgeted better. The women of the Artist's Alley are kicking butt, I am not kidding-- GOOD art, high production values, very serious, very dedicated people. I bought a bag full of pubs of very impressive quality, not at all what I expected. Very cool.
Lillian and Fawn: drinks on the wharf, ramen in J-town and a tour of Viz. Too awesome. And some very excellent video. :D

Berkely, CA: Awesome to meet you, Bohemian, thanks for letting us crash at your etching-walled, grad stu pad on the hill. The tour of campus, campus-life coffee and biscuits and falling asleep to the 1st season of Pete and Pete. Also mom and pop hippie breakfast joints, matzoh scramble with a big side of sour cream. Yum.
BART: love you, mass transit. Halloween party goers riding the train. Is a huge Nemo fish really the best costume if you're riding a bike??
Sitting in on Myung's storyboading class at the uni: bad students. Do your homework. XD
Wah, feeling nostalgic! The memories have already become slippery as I plan for the next trip. Still... palm trees, warm foggy dawns and good good friends, I remember that much.
