I have put together a short story for my picture, entitled "Duo's Cuddle Request"
Heero sat back from his computer terminal, he was
finally finished. He straightened his desk, then headed for the parking
lot to go home. He approached the car and noticed Duo sitting in the
passenger seat?! This was unusual! Duo did not often give up his chance
to drive. Heero opened the door slowly, and looked in. Duo remained
silent. This was not good! Heero slid into the drivers seat. And looked
at his boyfriend Duo Maxwell.
"So, your day, was it anything like mine?" Duo asked? He still looked out the front windshield.
Heero softly responded. "Well if you mean, did I have a total disaster of a day? Yes."
"I used to think I wasn't superstitious... you know?
The God of Death? Afraid of a simple thing like a number? Instead this
day has definitely... it made me jumpy!" Duo shrugged.
"I would think that just a number and day of the
week could not change what happens to a person so drastically." Heero
intoned. "I perceive our days must have been.... similar then." Heero
considered the day's date, Friday the 13th.
Duo nodded and blinked tiredly back at Heero. "I
have never had such an awful day! First, an old case box broke while I
was carrying it and scattered evidence every where. And if that wasn't
embarrassing enough? It happened right in front of a whole bunch of new
recruits."
"Then, Quatre came by, I went to return his hug
and.... well lets just say, I didn't know a stapler could do that much
damage to a neck tie! Trowa wouldn't stop laughing, and when I tried to
help Quatre.... well, I now owe Quatre a new silk tie. And that was
before nine a. m. this morning."
Heero snorted. He hadn't even started the car yet.
"My day appears to have been the same... I almost, well... I felt....
clumsy!"
Duo gasped and turned in his seat to stare. "No! Not
you...! Heero Yuy, clumsy? Never!" Then he couldn't help himself, he
burst into giggles.
Heero glared. "Hn. You can stop your laughing now
Maxwell." Heero sighed and continued. "Well, I was! Some how I spilled
my entire cup of coffee on Lady Une's Desk. She had just spread out the
Two-bit proposal. The same proposal I've been working on for over a
month. It's for Monday's conference meeting with government officials.
When I attempted to access them to reprint it, the whole of the
Preventer's Mainframe crashed!"
Duo instantly stopped giggling. "Um... The one
concerning our firearms?" Then he cringed away from Heero's stare. Duo
hung his head, not wanting to mention what else had happened with his
day. "Um... my day wasn't finished either."
Heero took his hand from the key in the ignition and
turned slowly to his best friend. "Do I want you to continue?"
Duo shivered. "Maybe, maybe not... You know the
Preventer's mainframe crash?" Duo gulped as Heero's stare became a
glare. "Well I may have been responsible." he mumbled.
"Grrrr.... Duo, do not tell me you did that! How
could you have caused that? No wait, you are Duo, of course you could
cause it. It took me most of the day just to get the system back up and
running again. What did you do?"
Poor Duo shrank into his seat. "Well, you see...
Wufei dropped by my cubical also, and he bet that I couldn't break into
his personal files to find out.. what.. he a... got me... for my
birthday."
Heero gripped the steering wheel tightly, the metal
groaning with the stress. When Heero looked at the wheel moments later
he realized he had actually bent the thing. "Duo? Why exactly did you
hack into his files ?..."
Duo paled as he watched Heero bend the steering
wheel... and cringed when he realized Heero would not leave him alone
until he knew. "The um.. well because he bet me that I wouldn't be able
to hack into it"
"And you just could not resist?" Heero's tight lips and white knuckles indicated his degree of tension.
"Well, um... of course, you know Wufei. He's always
pushing my buttons, ya know? Teasing me and everything!" Duo tried to
defend himself.
"Hn.."
"Um.. Heero, can we head home now?" Duo asked softly.
"I guess we might as well." Heero turned the key to
start the car, and nothing happened. No engine turnover, no grinding,
nothing. Heero turned to Duo. "You drove in this morning?"
"Uh.... Yeah? I usually do."
"Did you forget to turn off the lights?" Heero asked.
"Um... Oops?! I guess I forgot." Duo groaned.
"Hn... Guess you get to call the Tow truck." Heero
began to hand over the cell phone, then hesitated.... "Hn... maybe I
had better do the calling." Heero couldn't quite keep the smirk off his
face, as Duo hid his face by looking out the window.

some time later

Heero and Duo finally arrived home. Although the
normally 15 minute drive took almost an hour. After bursting through
the front door, Duo headed straight for the bedroom to remove his
long-sleeved uniform shirt. Heero headed to the kitchen to put together
stir-fry for their meal.
When Duo later joined Heero in the kitchen, it was
to sit down at the small table and eat the food Heero had fixed. Duo
took the soda Heero handed him from the fridge then tucked into his
plateful.
"Heero this is fantastic stir-fry! Did you do
something different?" Duo exclaimed enthusiastically around a mouthful
of half chewed food. "Finally, my day is looking up!"
Heero looked up and smirked. "I used a different
oil, and a tiny bit of sweet soy sauce. I thought you would like it,
because you like sweet things. I am glad I could make your day better."
Duo nodded, "Yeah, that's it... it's just a bit
sweet, you got it just sweet enough. I really like it! Thank you for
trying it for me!"
Duo's bright smile made the rest of the awful day
dim somewhat for Heero. He grinned back at his boyfriend, then
continued to eat. Heero had just finished his meal when he remembered
to ask about the plans for the rest of the evening.
"So Duo, what do you want to do for your special
evening? Did you have anything in particular that you wish to do?"
(Heero's private thoughts continued on * besides dragging me straight
off to the bed*).
Duo looked up, "Um... yeah well, there is something
I really would like to do... with you... Would you just come sit with
me in the living room... together, on the couch. Maybe let me snuggle
up with you, my favorite pillow and my crazy-quilt. Then can we watch
um... I don't know, maybe Star Wars? Maybe eat popcorn later too." He
looked hopefully at Heero, waiting for his verdict.
Heero smiled, "Hn... Actually, that sounds like the perfect way to
spend the evening. Your very special birthday evening."
