Hey......... in case any of you are wondering, I had a dr. appt Friday 9/8/06.
The inevitable has occured. I unfortunately couldn't handle the pain of my knee anymore and decided to go see the dr.... she diagnosed me with bilateral patello fomoral (symptom) and referred me to an Orthopedic Dr. I met with yesterday and he did a lot of x-rays. He looked em over and said there is no doubt about it, I will need to under go an Arthoscopic Scope. He said my knee cap is bent sideways and locked in between my femur and tibia. He said he will make 2 small inscisions and go in and cut that ligament, after that he will literally grab my knee cap and twist it into place. While I'm under, he will x-ray my knee again if my kneecap is ok, he will stitch the holes and wake me up... if its not ok, he will then make a large incision, and replace my knee cap. The surgery will take place Nov. 22, 2006. It's the day before Thanksgiving. Its an in and out procedure, and I'll be home later that day. Recovery is estimated between 4-6 weeks for the small procedure, if its the replacement, that recovery is based on 6-12 weeks. 12 weeks being the worst case scenario.
Anyone know of someone having this done? My dad did when I was in high school and I remember him pukin on the way home cause of this meds wearin off.
I hope to have visitors too damnit........ I will be shut in for all those weeks and I will be bored OUT of my mind!!
