Be careful what you wish for...

As i've proved to myself that it can come true. When i posted last i was still withchild and being the cranky, moody expectant mother that people know so well.
Now i'm actually that mother and i just got home from being in hospital at about 3.30 this afternoon. It's been a very tiring 4 days as i'm sure most of you will understand but also a very special and happy and fulfilling 4 days. *huge grin*

MONDAY
I go to the hospital with Mel for my usual check up not really expecting too much as they'd told me the week before that they'd 'swab' me to find out whether i was ok to be induced as the baby was small, but they said that a couple of weeks back and then changed thier minds and told me they were going to leave it a while to see how i went. So i get there in the morning and wait about an hour to be seen and then my nice doctor comes along and examines me and says that as i'm still on the small said they want to do a couple more tests to find out if the baby needs to come out straight away. I have the tests done and wait around for a little while. They then come and tell me that they are going to induce me and depending on how baby copes i can have a natural birth or may need a C-section as it could put undue stress on me and baby and none of us really wanted that.

So Mel runs down and rings Jay and tells him to get his arse back down to Peterborough (he was in Brum due to work) and everything kicks off. A little later - I got induced at about 4 in the afternoon and the pains hit almost straight away. I thought that these were labour pains but apparantley these were only due to my cervix thinning out and getting ready for labour. Now these pains were very strong (hence me thinking labour pains) so i asked for some pain relief and ended up zonked out of my head till morning. Which i think is a good thing. :)

TUESDAY (The Day!!!)
Nothing really happened until later on when i get induced again and they break my waters about lunchtime. A few hours later i was taken down to the delivery suite, unable to walk as the contractions were hitting so strongly i was doubling over. I was given the option of having an epidural but as i had heard a few bad things about it i was a little apprehensive but on the other side i was getting really stressed out and i didn't want to have a fit while i was in labour so i opted for it and spent the next few hours in hardly any pain at all. The only real pain i felt (not much i must add) was when i had to push and by 8 my daughter was born into the world.
