u2 - one
Left work a few minutes later than usual and by the time I had reached broadway, I knew that I had missed my train, so... I figured, I need sneakers, and the sketchers store is on 34th, I can just stop in and get another pair like I have or a similar pair. walk in look around for a suitable pair, locate one that I like, well that's where the problem started. there were no employees in the store (outside of the girl behind the register. after about 4 minutes of looking/waiting (its not a huge store) finally someone came out onto the floor. he went quickly around to each person who needed help, got the model(s) and size of the shoe they wanted to try and walkied it to the store room. after another five minutes a girl came up with my shoes and I made my purchase and exited, moving quickly to try and catch my train. on the train I have noticed that 1) I didn't pay any tax (win!) and 2) the shoes are a smidge too small, but they'll stretch a bit so I am not worried.
this is the second pair of shoes I've gotten recently which I didn't try on before buying them. this is not a good practice, but in these cases it seems to have worked out. (last pair I bought on the internet). I wasn't going to miss another train (i am way tired) and I really needed a new pair of sneakers, the last pair has literally fallen to pieces, and tend to fall off my feet when I walk.
on a totally different subject, I had ink on my palms today, for some odd reason, and they had the heat turned way up at work. so I walked around for a couple of hours with a blue forhead... living up the nickname psychosmurf...
