I get sick and tired of listening to the media anoint Barry Obama. In the latest string of bullshit related to the current housing and financial crisis in the USA a few little facts about our candidates seems to go overlooked by the mainstream .
Fact:
On January 25, 2005 Senate Bill 190 was introduced by Sen. Charles Hagel (R-NE) and co-sponsored by 3 senators including John McCain, Elizabeth Dole, and John Sununu. This bill was meant to set up a regulatory oversight for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae because they were backing what looked like way too many bad home mortgage loans. This bill was killed in the Senate Banking Comittee by a Democratic vote along party lines. All of the Republicans present voted for and all of the Democrats voted against, thus the bill never made it to the Senate floor. The Democrats including Christopher Dodd, (who happens to be the largest recipient of Fannie Mae lobbying money) shot down the bill because they felt it would prevent everyone who wanted to purchase a home from being able to. Basically, they wanted to garauntee the "right" to credit for anyone who applied, whether they could pay it back or not.
Who is the third largest recipient of Fannie Mae money? you guessed it, Barry-O right behind John Kerry and Chris Dodd and only slightly in front of Hillary Clinton.
Guess who isn't on that list?
