[Inspired by tcpip's recent post, The War Against Women.]

All the attention, worldwide, devoted to the US elections is quite baffling to me. After all, they decide nothing but what brand of propaganda we'll be hearing next (smooth or stupid?). The real world actions of the empire remain consistent through farcical regime changes.

Same goes here in Australia - the two "sides" of politics differ by only a few percent on exactly how quickly we should rush to corporate rule. There is a war against women because there is a war against humans. Sexism is just one of the many divide and conquer strategies used. Sociable effort from the ground up may heal the rifts, but not rhetoric from the mouth of a sock-puppet.

Okay, so it was nice, a few speeches back there, to hear Gillard slip her handlers' lead; let some of her old fire out instead of woodenly delivering more focus-grouped gibberish. But it gave her a bump in the polls though, didn't it? Now we're seeing it more often. While I'm always happy to see that chimp-in-a-suit Abbot get put down, a cynical person might observe that some feminist-sounding noise at this point will go some way to regaining the votes lost by taking the hatchet to single mums.

This is how Gillard and Obama pursue equality - by saying one thing and doing another with such aplomb, they're showing the world that they can be just as deceitful and insincere as as any white male toadies of robber barons.
