last night was pretty sweet. shane, jeff and i went to see spoon/black tie dynasty at the ridglea in fort worth. it was sponsored by camel and it was "invite only" (i use quotations here because "invite only" sounds so snobbish..they really just give some people a bunch of tickets to give to their friends so...it's not that special). anyhow, it meant that it was free, which rocked. ANNNNND since it was sponsored by camel, what do you think they had? FREE CIGARETTES! duh. we were with a girl named april who didn't smoke but she got some for me anyway and anyone who knows me knows how much i don't love paying for things...especially for things that are killing me. so, in short, it was a pretty badass show. i got away with sneaking three beers which put me in just the right mood for a little bit of dancey dance. afterwards, we all went to shane's to drink some more. back on I-30 east, i was doing an easy 95 and rockin' out to dragonforce, like i do. apparently there was a cop behind me for about 5 minutes and 95 seems to be a tad too slow for a copper such as himself so he proceeds to go by me and completely cut me off. well, that shit is not cool (cop or no cop). so i do the same thing to him (it was clear that his intentions were not to pull me over or he would have done it already). we proceed in the same manner for the next 10 minutes or so, reaching top speeds of 110. but eventually i decided to give the ole civic a rest, she had done good. my theory is that this cop had just gotten off duty or something and was looking for a bit of fun. in any case, i can check "drag racing with a cop" off my list of things to do before i die. sweet.
my boss and i made french press coffee this morning and she had this vanilla flavored sugar to put in it. as menial as this job is, i'm going to miss the people. that, and i had known my boss for about 4 years prior to even working here. i mean, c'mon, yesterday we had a mexican pot luck lunch meeting. how much cooler does it get? and marie is really into the whole vegetarian thing and she knows i'm vegan so she made me the most goddamn delicious vegan enchiladas in the entire world. i made guacamole (which was a huge hit) and gwen even brought her blender to make virgin margaritas. we had a pretty fantastic spread going on. garry brought all of these pastries from la madeleine and, even though i couldn't eat any, they still looked pretty. it's amazing how excited i get about food, it really is. and the sad thing is, for some strange, inexplicable, shitty reason i haven't been able to keep down a lot of food (i.e. a normal amount to make sure that your body functions).
yes, so things are winding down at DAI. i didn't get a chance to hide bud light all around the building (see bud light commercial for reference) like i wanted to. perhaps at my next cubicle job.
in other news, i leave for portland in 6 days. this will probably be my last post from arlington just because there are so many peple to see, so many things to do, things to pack, the iliad to read (still) and the like.
