my mother randomly decided to buy me a g4 ibook a couple of days ago. well, i guess it wasn't really that random, but the timing of the purchase was. as she puts it, "i don't really mind running up my credit card debt right now."
i just ate 4 spring rolls (!) and a bowl of steamed rice with vegetables. panda express, you are good to me.
well, after three stages of addressing and stamping, the graduation invitations have finally been mailed.
our house is going on the market soon. as a result, jill and i have to paint over the beautiful artistic purple (stripes and sponge painting...it was wild) that we did about 2 summers ago. it is a sad thing. the purple had a good run, but i don't think the next occupants of the master bedroom will appreciate it as much.
i turned in my barnes and noble application yesterday. i hope i get a job there. i'll be getting more applications this weekend so i guess i'll just see what comes up. it's a shame kerwin had to go be a shitty boss and run up his labor budget because now he can't hire me OR lauren and this means that lauren might possibly remain in austin over the summer at the whole foods down there. boo.
i must say that my stepmother is slowly climbing back up the list of people whom i can tolerate. she slipped back down a bit when she made some ridiculous comment about classes (as in, societal) but overall, that's just the person she is. if i overlook her political and economic ideologies, she's really not that bad of a person. my mom credits it to the drunken bonding at the wedding in atlanta last february and i do too. apparently it's the only way to come to terms with an extremely uptight person. once you drink with her, the stick just slides right out of her ass, making a much more comfortable environment for all involved.
this week, the freshman-juniors are taking the texas assessment of knowledge and skills, which means that i don't have to be at school until noon. i have enjoyed it immensely thus far. it allows time for sleeping in and still accomplishing a great deal. it's just ridiculous that we even go to school because not much can be accomplished in a 35 minute class period. not that much is getting accomplished anyway this time of the year, but still.
i started reading atlas shrugged again a few days ago. i got about 3/4 of the way through before i just got sick of ayn rand's narrative philosophy. but i have decided to toughen up and read the whole thing. and then, further on up the road, i'll read fountainhead.
