That's me back in the UK now. Hopefully I will be here for August too. Spain didn't turn out to be the holiday I was expecting. I ended up playing in all of the live music bars in the local vicinity. I got to play jazz though, which made me happy. There were 2 strong highlights of the trip for me. One was Valencia. That place is beautiful. The architecture is wonderful as it's never really been demolished or set alight in it's history. There was also some amazing devotional art in the gallery there with some really freaky cherubs in most of them, that are the stuff of nightmares.
The second amazing thing was a seaside town. We only went there for the evening, but the food was good and the views across the bay were to die for. The south of Spain is quite barren. I don't thing I saw a single patch of grass while we were there, but the terrain is gorgeous nevertheless. It's very rugged and striking, with barren cliffs and dried up rivers.
Hopefully I'm going to be able to get a decent budget to go back there in the summer with the band to play festivals.
