If you're thinking about signing up with Virgin Media because they're cheap and you don't want to pay £130 for a BT line fitted, please think again. The broadband service is ok, apart from the usual bollocks about the "no downloading between certain times or we cut your bandwidth".
Their phone lines are another thing completely. As soon as I got mine connected, I was plagued with wrong numbers for a vicar and his wife. These calls were happening at least 3 times a day between 8am and gone midnight. I got on to Virgin Media eventually and explained the problem. They said that the only thing to do was to change my number. I agreed but asked them to make sure the new one hadn't been reused very quickly after someone else ended their contract. They said 90 days is all they can guarantee! (BT leave at least 12 months)
My landline then went dead for 5 days. Virgin Media lost the ID on the phone line. When it came back online after this time, it was with the original number again. I complained. They took the phone down for another 6 hours and got the new number working.
The next day I get 4 wrong numbers for the same woman, one of which was her midwife desperately trying to get hold of her at some silly time in the morning.
I call up again and speak to a manager. She tells me she's going to change the number again, make it ex-directory, and give me a months free line rental.
Today I am debited the full amount for this month, and my line is now dead again.
I would tell them to fuck off and forget about their minimum terms of contract, but this would leave me unable to get internet back until I can come up with £130 for a BT line. I have really had enough of this.
